The splendid century-old Guibin building is now the Lungmen Modern Plaza Hotel Harbin. Though on a quiet street, Lungmen Modern Plaza Hotel Harbin is very close to Hongbo Square and Harbin’s commercial centre and railway station. There’s a great variety of Chinese and international cuisine onsite.
This is my first time commenting on tripadvisor but after the experience we had I was forced into action!
As its coming up to Chinese new year the city is very busy so this seemed like a good option, reasonably priced and good location.
I booked the hotel through "otel.com" and when we arrived the trouble started. We discovered that they had no record of our PREPAID booking which took a long time to figure out as none of the staff speak english!
They blamed the website for not making the booking but its not clear whether they just double booked the rooms.
The hotel is very run down but the location is good as its a short taxi journey to the pedestrian streets.
I am now going to try and get my money back from otel.com which I hope won't be too painful of an experience.
I would not recommend this hotel or otel.com for any trip to Harbin!

Absolutely not recommended
This is a very old and historical hotel, hence the rooms and furniture are worn. The mattresses are very old and used, and aren't even proper spring mattresses.
When we arrived, we were told that our rooms won't be ready until 8.30 pm, which is absolutely ridiculous. But even then, they weren't properly cleaned...we found a half-eaten apple in our room, which is disgusting.
The staff don't seem to understand the concept of hospitality. We had to haul our luggage up the stairs (as there are no elevators) and none of them seemed to care. They also speak minimal English (if at all). A simple question like "where is the toilet" was met with a blank stare..and this is coming from the concierge!
Breakfast was horrific. The dining room was littered with used paper (which no one bothered to clean), the table clothes were stained and the food was really poor.
