Great location but not too wes....
Stayed here for 1 night with family to see the rice terraces. The hotel is on the edge of the village half way up the mountain. A taxi can not drop you off there and you have to walk 30 minutes up or 1 hour down from the car park to get there. We hired sherpa's to carry our bags! Amazing location with great views of the terraces. Slightly noisy as in the middle of the village but ok. Most staff speak limited English but did try to help. Our room was supposed to have a balcony but instead had more of an open patio at the front door to the room. The only window the rom had was a very small one over looking a path. The room has no wardrobe and very little space for suitcases. Breakfast was ok. Westernish! An enjoyable stay. Wish I had done more research into the location of the room but enjoyed the walk in the end! Cleanut not too welcoming environment. Not sure I would stay here again or recommend to western families. Also very expensive for the room you get.

No English, no wifi, no pay by....
We found it difficult not being able to communicate, we had to leave early in the morning and would have liked breakfast before we left, we would have liked to have paid by credit card as we were spending a few days in this area and there are no banks, we would have liked wifi but it didn't happen. Room was fine, clean and comfortable with a good view, service suffered as we just couldn't get through to the guy on the desk, this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at on our walk from Ping'an to Dazhai. Maybe we didn't have the free complimentary breakfast because the guy on the desk just couldn't tell us we were entitled to it?

Beautiful view of the rice ter....
We stayed here for one night when we first arrived in Ping'An. Although the hotel staff spoke no English, we had an enjoyable stay. Our view of the terraces was beautiful as the guest house is located near the top of the village, and our room was comfortable with two twin beds and a/c. The free complementary breakfast was also good, but we automatically received the 'western' breakfast (two eggs, toast, sausage) and I would have rather had the 'Chinese' breakfast not offered to us. The guest house is also close to the '7 Stars with Moon' viewpoint and to the hiking trail that leads through the terraces. We booked online through C-trip and had no problems with our reservation. Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our time at Leader guest house. Recommended.

What a view, but room is small....
After the long trek up the mountain you will enjoy the hospitality of the management of this hotel. The view is unlike any in the world, but the room itself is very small. The bed is hard, and the bathroom floods a little into the rest of the room. The food is very good and the tour through the dragon's spine is worth the trip. I recommend a message at the local massuse. It helps when your legs are sore. P.S. Watch for the Yang women with their incredibly long hair. Happy travels!

Rooms are a little small but well-equipped like a 2-star hotel. The available air-conditioner was not required for the cool weather in May and the strong hot shower was much appreciated. The sink is in the room, instead of the bathroom. Although the building looks like a traditional wooden structure from the outside, it's all tiles, bricks, and cement on the inside. This means a decent amount of noise insulation.
With the cool mountain air, it would have be better to open the windows to enjoy the natural air-conditioning. However, without any netting, many mosquitoes and other insects got into the room.
The rooms in the back of the building face the path leading up to the village, so you will not only get a lot of people walking by and staring into your room but also the noise. These rooms are a little stuffy too. Furthermore, the kitchen is also just right below these rooms which could be uncomfortable for some when there is cooking going on.
Food in the restaurant is reasonably priced in this area. We had the tasty rice noodle in broth, rice porridge, etc for breakfast which was included in the room rate. The various dishes we ordered for dinner were equally good, especially the braised fish with tofu which was not on the menu.
When we arrived in the afternoon on the first day, there was a huge storm which took out the power supply for 24 hours in the entire area of both Ping An Village and Da Zhai Village. The staff not only provided candles for us during dinner and also in the rooms, they also heated enough hot water for 16 of us, and carried the buckets of hot water to our rooms on the two upper floors. All of us were very impressed with their hospitality and thoughtfulness as we didn't expect to be able to get a hot bath in the chilly evening.
Before the power supply came back the next afternoon, the manager arranged for the installation of a huge gas water heater on top of the building to make sure we would get our hot shower. Although we didn't need to use the gas water heater when the power supply came back in the afternoon, the gesture was much appreciated by all of us.
The incredibly friendly and helpful staff more than made up for any negative points about the facilities.
We stayed in both Ping An Village and Da Zhai Village during the trip, and we much prefer the less commercialized and laid-back nature of Da Zhai Village, not to mention the better views. However, if we were to go back to Ping An Village in the future, we'll definitely go back to Leader GH.
