Not safe. Don’t leave anythin....
This hotel does not offer safes and you may lose your valuables like I did. The front desk will downgrade your room so check carefully. I have stayed here multiple times and have had problems from bad management. Finally had enough. Area is excellent. Near garden hotel and subway.

Not great decent price
Rooms are decent once you get there! Water and piping is hit and miss.
WiFi’s is not good.
Elevator takes forever.
Very poor English at front desk.
Non attentive service (cultural thing maybe)
Location seems good so far. Safe and convenient to subway.
Price is good, get what you pay for I guess.
My booking was canceled also before I got in at 9pm so had to rebook and cost me more. Maybe not hotels fault but really lame. I’m blaming Booking.com. Just make sure you always put 11:59pm check in time when estimating an eta. I’ve never been screwed like that before as I gave an ETA at an earlier check in time than 9pm.
When traveling around god knows what time you’ll show up as you are often powerless over many things when traveling.

Spacious and clean headquarter....
I'm a fan of the YingShang chain. I've stayed in their ximenkou location which is in a beautiful neighborhood in gz. However the TaoJin location has more spacious rooms for the same price, it's really a steal in a great location. Zoo coffee is seconds away (down the stairs in front) as is Starbucks and a bunch of other western places. There is a dim sum place in the same building called di?n d? de (???) which is also superb.

HIDDEN GEM of Economical Stay ....
YING SHANG SAN MAO hotel is located right next to the famous Garden Hotel and in front of Guangzhou's oldest and the LUXE FREINDSHIP MALL.
Also 1 minute walk away is the TAO GIN metro station, so access to other parts of Guangzhou is easy.
Just ask anyone for GARDEN HOTEL, take the lane next to it, 20 steps and you are there.
LOCATION: Excellent...Starbucks 2 minute walk, the most expensive and branded mall FRIENDSHIP MALL right in front. The biggest hotel of Guangzhou, GARDEN hotel, next door. for INDIAN food, next door PUNJABI restaurant. 2 minute walk Guangzhou's No. 1 restaurant SULTAN Turkish food..Everything you need is 2 minutes away..
Hotel is a tall Tower, 20 floors...Welcomed at the ground lobby, modern and warm. Staff is great..check in at 3 AM..2 minutes max..
Rooms are small (you can opt for larger rooms, they have suites) but the point is if you need to only sleep take the small rooms, it is more than you need..
If you want MORE, then take a double room and EVEN MORE..take a suite.
Room Views are city view, and some great views from top floors.
Rooms are clean, great amenities and a very comfortable Bead..Linen are great..Sleep quality 9/10
Wood flooring in the rooms so no smell, pathways are carpeted but don't smell at all.
All bathroom amenities provided..and refreshed daily.
House keeping is excellent. very responsive.
WI-FI is great and free.
Breakfast is on 6th Floor, somewhat limited but for 20 RMB it is great. Food is tasty and fresh, great start to your day.
The reception staff is courteous and helpful, language divide is there so help for directions and streets is a challenge.
EXPECT the best of Budget Hotel, you might find the walkway a bit less wide, rooms a bit small..But it is more than required for the money you paid for.
Security is good as you cannot access the elevator without your room card..
RECOMMENDED for solo business travelers, city explorers, business visitors...
NOT RECOMMENDED...family, business visitors who want to meet people at the hotel.
Garden hotel parking has intercity bus stand operated by CTS..so if you want to go to HONG KONG for eg. just walk 2 minutes, take a ticket GREAT BUS, 3 hours you are at HONG KONG Airport..No mess no fuss simple and easy..

Average hotel, business rooms ....
Thanks to a reader's comment, I booked a business room and the room was fine and comfy but I can imagine the rooms below that would indeed be quite small, as commented by many. On top of the nasty surprise that Expedia had charged my credit card more than the price I had seen on screen and booked at, there was also some hassle at the front desk because Expedia told them a twin bed while I had paid for a double bed which was slightly more expensive. After some discussions, the manager agreed to give us the double bed room but like many average hotels in China, the customer service was still to be improved. They were not rude but just very plainly factual, no smile and did not seem to try to make guests feel welcomed. A bit strange that they put a box of facial tissues in the bathroom instead of a toilet roll though. Metro station v nearby but on a line which we had to change lines for most of the places we wanted to visit. Overall, if it was not for the tradefair that had shot up the price, it should be better when the price is cheaper during normal days.
