Hotel in Guangzhou, China
Rooms & Toilets are Big and clean. I stayed her 3-4 times while visiting Guangzhou on work and paid around RMB:300/- on normal rate period and RMB:600/- during exhibition periods. Breakfast is included in the rates which is a good deal. Alot of Arabic guets stay here and there are 3-4 arabic restaurants around the corner 200mts away from this hotel. You would need to take a Taxi to the shopping areas and costs RMB:10/- to Beijing Road. RMB: 150/- max. to the airport from the hotel.

Hectic scenes - reasonable acc....
A frenzy of activity happening at this hotel, packed elevators, (very slow elevators!) long queues at breakfast. Their was usually one one table vacant and often not cleaned from previous occupants however the selection was quite good, but the tea and coffee very ordinary. Usually just lukewarm tea and no fresh coffee. I spent 15 minutes waiting to get two eggs fried! Due to the Trade Fair, it appeared the hotel was struggling to cope with the huge number of occupants all demanding breakfast at the same time. Service to the rooms was punctual and efficient. The housekeeping staff eager to clean your room ding donging the door bell if you slept past 9.30am. Very comfortable beds and even wi fi so that was a fabulous bonus. The location is okay, not far from most major shopping districts and available taxis at their doorstep. We thought the price was a big high as we had booked through Agoda not at first realising that it was peak time with the World Trade Fair. Avoid this time if you are not going to Guangzhou for the fair as everything price wise sky rockets. There are thousands of products and manufacturers every where you go - it seems the whole world is here trading!

Over-priced and under-whelming....
The short story: the hotel wants maximum tarriff for minimum service/facilities and is trading purely on its central touristy location and metro proximity
The Long story:
We booked an executive room online through one of the many online hotel booking agencies for RMB 295 a night (the cheapest agency quote we could find). This is quite expensive compared to a similar hotel in Shanghai where we had just been (RMB 270). That was OK as we knew Guangzhou is generally more expensive. When we arrived the advertised desk rate at the Hotel was RMB 310.
The room was acceptable enough but we soon found the air-con was not working. At this time of year (winter) Guangzhou is not too bad during the day if the sun is out but it is cold at night and a hheater is needed. We had staff up to get it going but they made up all sorts of excuses like give it a few hrs, the labels are wrong (not means cold and cold means hot). Finally they admitted the power was turned off for Chinese New Year (very few people staying at the hotel). I finally forced a portable oil heater out of the floor staff rather than book out of the hotel.
Aggravation two was when I asked to renegotiate the tarriff due to this and the fact that Agoda was now advertising a Chinese new year Special of RMB 254 per night. No way would they match that price at the desk. I suppose I could have booked online through Agoda (credit card) and then cancelled my present booking at the desk but for the difference it wasn't worth the hassle. Not a very sporting/friendly attitude here which is pretty much indicative of how you will be treated if you stay.
The hotel is incredibly penny pinching. All snacks provided in room are payable (including the tea and coffee most of us expect for free). The disposable bedroom slippers (common in China) do not get replaced daily as is the custom in most hotels.
When the room was cleaned and beds remade any items we might accidentally leave on the bed would be left on the floor (including personal pillows).
While a small fridge and kettle is provided there were no teaspoons or decent sized cups provided (just two very small Chinese teacups).
The hotel restaurant is apparantly a respected favourite and it was quite popular while we were there. In fact the hotel lifts seem to be programmed to cater for non residential restaurant customers (1st and 2nd floors) and at meal times it is virtually impossible to get either lift to rise up to resident floors (8 and 9). We overhead leaving Chinese customers in the left saying the restaurant was no longer as good as it used to be.
My Chinese partner concurrs. Her pidgeon was somewhat tough and drowned in oil due to deep frying instead of baking! The pidgeon at Tai Peng Guan (a Beijing Lu road restaurant) is very very nice however.
Location is central and close to the metro (5 mins walk away).
If you do not plan to stay in the hotel much and are prepared to pay exhorbitant prices for what is effectively a 2 star hotel well past its glory days in a good tourist location then knock yourself out! Oh, don't expect a view.

Awesome budget and service !!
I found this hotel really comfortable in many ways such as rooms, budget, internet is free, near to many restaurants (Arabic restaurant) and next to many markets such as baiyun leather market and not too far from metro station.

Parkview is good value for mon....
Parkview Hotel is located in the tourist district, within walking distance to Sun-Yat Sun Memorial Hall and Han Dynasty Tombs. For USD49, we got a suite. Rooms were spacious, sheet and towels were white and clean. Tai Woo chinese restaurant on 3rd floor serves excellent dimsum. Only compliant is many local chinese business travellers who smoke which permeates the corridors. It can be fixed by stuffing wet towel under room door.Overall, a pleasant stay. Hotel reception staff were friendly but only converse in Mandarin and Cantonese.Checking-in with internet booking form was no problem.
