Not suitable for foreigners
This hotel is geared towards Chinese speaking people. Stayed four nights with a Chinese colleague on business and was very disappointed. The check in process was not smooth, no one spoke English and I was not made to feel welcome.
The room was in dire need of renovation. The bath / shower tiles had two large holes in them circa 4-5cm in diameter. The bed was like sleeping on a plank of timber and the television whilst having 57 channels, all were Chinese.
The one redeeming feature of this hotel is the duck restaurant attached to the hotel which had the best Peking Duck I have ever eaten.
I would visit only to enjoy the duck but will ever stay here again.

No English Speaking Staff
It's just as well I speak a little mandarin, because this place genuinely has no staff capable of stringing together a coherent English sentence. They called me at 7.30 am, the day after our arrival (so we were very tired and jet lagged, and annoyed at being woken). The woman didn't apologise, but just kept talking, despite my efforts to slow her down and speak plain Chinese (or English). In the end I just stopped her and said it was 7.30 am and we are tired and please go away ! turned out they had the wrong room, I guess all foreigners look alike to them... Very unprofessional. The hotel is close to Capital Normal university and Huayuanqiao metro stop on line 6. So only about 25 mins into the centre. There were some quite nice restaurants immediately across the Rd which were navigatable for foreigners, we had some excellent beef noodles and mian bao, there was also a duck restaurant directly next door, but we didn't try it. The rooms are a bit aged, our bathroom smelt of mould and needed a good clean. Beds were quite hard, but comfortable, wifi was adequate, a little slow, but useable. There was a fridge and a TV, and an armchair, ac didn't seem to work, though it was winter. There were workmen directly outside our window working the whole time we were there, they were trying to be discrete, but basically started work at 8.30 every morning, and woke us. Apart from that, the price reflects the hotel quite well, if they had some English-speaking staff I'd score it higher.

Good Value / Pleasant Surround....
We were pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews. The Hotel was booked for us and it is great, suited our purpose very well indeed, close to the University complex. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the inner circle of the busy centre. We found it easy to get around and travelled by a mix of subway and taxi to the major attractions. The hotel would appear to host many conferences/meetings etc.
Staff friendly but we found no one who could speak any english. Breakfast is a lavish buffet with real coffee and milk, and eggs and bacon on toast if you wanted.
A well respected roast duck restaurant is located next to the hotel specialising in Peking duck with the traditional accompaniments, well worth being spoilt one evening. The many cafes/restaurants on the streets are great, easy to order, ie picture menus, cheap and very good value.

Do not stay in this hotel!
Stayed in this hotel with a group of students, and we were not impressed. The hotel has 3 blocs. Some people in the group were allocated rooms in the main bloc, where the reception is. The rooms in that bloc were dirty and they smelt of mould! We asked to move rooms and we were given rooms in the bloc on the left to the hotel. The rooms in the 6th and 7th floor only, were a bit better. They still smelt of cigarettes, though. However, there is not much one can do about that, since the Chinese are allowed to smoke in the rooms, and they really do smoke a lot! The Chinese next to my room would even keep the door of their bedroom open, presumably not to suffocate with cigarette smoke!
Some other people in my group were allocated the rooms in the bloc on the right of the main bloc. These rooms are truly dreadful. Very cold rooms. They even hang a duvet at the door of the rooms, but you still get a lot of draught! One of the rooms had a hole in the bathroom ceiling and they just put some tape on the hole to fix the problem!
The staff at the reception did not speak any English so we had to use Google translator to commutate with them. They were not helpful at all!
The rooms have leaflets promoting massage in the hotel. Do not use them! Unfortunately I went for a massage and I came out worst than before the massage. They do not know how to do massage.
Breakfast was ok. More catered for the Chinese than for Western people.
Overall, not a good experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anybody!
