A great hotel for a stopover

My wife and I had an overnight stay in Beijing in transit from Mongolia to LAX. I searched around for a reasonably priced hotel that had acceptable reviews and settled on this one, partly because it had a free shuttle to and from the airport and because it carried the Best Western name knowing that it had to meet certain standards to be part of the Best Western chain of hotels. The shuttle runs regularly. We inquired at the information desk at the airport where they called the hotel and sent the shuttle. After waiting about 15 minutes we were met in the airport lobby by a representative of the hotel and escorted to the parking lot where the shuttle was waiting. On the return we waited in the lobby about 10 minutes for the regularly scheduled shuttle to pick us up. I have to say that we were very satisfied with everything about the hotel. It is in a good neighborhood and we felt totally comfortable taking a morning walk before our ride back to the airport. The room was clean, the king size bed very comfortable and the bathroom quite upscale with the tub/shower being partitioned from the bedroom by glass panels with a shade if privacy was wanted. The front desk staff was helpful and accommodating. We had no problem at all communicating in English. The breakfast was very substantial with both Western and Asian options available. All in all we would stay in the hotel again.

better hotel just on the other....

dirty, old i wouldnt stay there even if it it is free of charge. check the hotels on the opposite side where i went for dinners. my first taxi (called by the hotel best western) charched me 30 rmb(chiniese money) but on my back i payed 15(called by the hotel where i ate) both are black taxi's wish luck to people who risk to stay in that horrible hoyel

great for a connection overnig....

shuttle service very good and free.hotel clean.staff very accomodating.wish we had a longer connection time and we could have visited a little bit of BEIJING.we will probably return some day, too bad its so far away from Canada

Not a Best Western or do Not b....

My customer told me due to an important China meeting running in Beijing so must of the famous hotel close to airport was either fully booked or extremely expensive. So end up I manage to find a brand name which is familiar to me " best western". I stay at the "Best Western" hotel in other countries before and never in China. I thought should be the same standards. I got a single room. I am very shock when I entry the hotel. The receptionist very local as I speak Chinese so do not know whether they speak English. Very the reception very localize. Like a 2 reception counter of 2 stars hotel in China. The furniture that in this room doesn't fix on the room size. So you will see the chair can't put at the table. The chair left beside the cupboard and cause the cupboard can't really open. Not racking for luggage so left your luggage on floor. The carpet was very dirty and only half of the pathway inside the room with this dirty carpet. Most terrible that you could see the wall sticker was peeling off. I really feel like Best Western group had bought in this old building and trying so some renovate to make it look good. I guess the group people might Never visit this unit before as the condition is very terrible. But I guess maybe the superior room condition is better. The design inside the bath room also not logic at all. The slide door never able close tightly. The space inside bathroom also very small. Due to lack of space the tea and cups were stored inside refrigerator. Never thought that before. Do not expect to work on working table bcoz half of the table was used by the TV. Soft bed and smelly pillow. Burned spot on the quit cover. Sound proof was very bad as I could hear my neighbor talk at night. No heater inside the room. The quit is quite warm. I really will not come back again no matter how. The hotel doesn't worth the money that I paid.

It was good for an overnight

Due to an overnight connection, we were put up here by Hainan Airlines. We were picked up by shuttle. A man, the night manager?, met us at the airport and led us to the shuttle. It was a passenger van with no space for luggage. He just watched us load our own suitcases and try to seat ourselves. The van was full. Arriving at the hotel, we were quickly given our rooms. The lobby was cold, seeming like no heat was on (outside temp was -3C). Our room was decent enough, clean, nice bathroom, complete with toiletries. I think the heat wasn’t working in our room either. Bed was comfortable. We had to pay for breakfast, 58Yuan. The buffet was smaller than the other hotels we had been in. Had to ask for forks...took a while. But the food was tasty enough. It was still cold in the lobby/dining. Return shuttle, the day manager helped us on with our luggage. Guess the night guy was unhappy being dragged out in the cold near midnight. English was limited.
