One of the worse
I was 3 nigth in the hotel.
The location is terrible. In the middle of highway junctions. Nothing to see or buy for snacks or dinner. Only in the hotel that is very limited
You can take a taxy yo the center.... but due to the traffic will be "cost" you about one hour.
The room are more than simple. Everything is old and looks dirty.
The staff trying to do the best.... but is more than limited. No english... only chinesse or pantomime.
And for the end.... they are biilding in the roof.... SO THE NOICE IS TERRIBLE.
TRY TO FIND A BETTER PLACE in the center
Please look the "Suita"

Has seen better times, I think
Recently stayed for two weeks at the Foreign Experts Hotel in Beijing. On the plus side, walkable to Olympic Park (although some hairy road crossings), large one bedroom suites with full kitchen and washing machine (very helpful for two week trip). Downside - staff speaks next to no English, restaurant food and breakfast undistinguished (although excellent coffee), no bar service except for beer, although they will show you a full cocktail menu, desultory daily cleaning. Do not trust the website, there is no coffee shop or mall attached. Beds also very hard, but that's typical for China. It's odd that there are no kitchen items such as plates, cups in kitchen. All in all, not horrible but not great.

This hotel is reasonably priced and the quality of rooms and service reflects this. I had a suite which was a good size and quite well appointed. Although two TVs, one in the lounge area and one in the bedroom these had very poor reception and no English channels I could find. The room was well cleaned but clearly had the residual smoke smell in the carpets and blinds. Possibly a hangover from when smoking in the rooms was allowed. Although I wonder how strictly this is enforced. The restaurant is OK if you want Chinese food. And communicating in English when ordering can be a real problem. Don't try ordering an omelette for breakfast. Also, there is very little shopping or restaurants close by.

Staying at the Foreign Experts....
I stayed two nights at the Foreign Experts Building just before the Spring Festival (??) as a foreign expert for a foreign-expert meeting. I see from previous reviews that others stay here through hotel bookings. The Foreign Experts Building is not great as a hotel (??) but should instead be regarded as a guesthouse (??) and I am rating as a guesthouse. As a guesthouse, the Foreign Experts Building is well above the average compared to other Chinese academic guesthouses.
The rooms are large and quite comfortable. The beds are hard but not as hard as average beds. Each bed has two pillows and the pillows are good, compared to the pillows filled with beads or beans, which I don't like. There is a TV in the living room and also in the bedroom. The room, really an apartment, comes with a kitchen that is well equipped and quite clean. The apartment is great for having visitors.
The apartment has a balcony and I had a view of part of the Bird's Nest Stadium nearby and the Pangu 7 Star Hotel Beijing (the 7 stars are self-awarded but this hotel is nonetheless China's most luxurious). Anyone feeling deprived at the Foreign Experts Building can take a short walk to the Pangu Plaza for luxury. The Foreign Experts Building is in the midst of the Olympic District, which is an interesting area. The subway station is not a long walk from the Foreign Experts Building.
The lunch and dinner are buffet style, not menu-based, and the food is average. The pure vegetarian selection is weak and not labeled. Some knowledge of Chinese is needed to figure out which options are vegetarian. All Halal food is labeled as "Moslem" so that selection is easy.
Wifi is free and adequate and slow at times as is the case everywhere I stay in China. As for a wifi modem in your room if the wifi is too slow or you can't get a connection. The "waiter" complies and the wifi bandwidth is then quite strong.
The apartment shower is poor. I couldn't get the temperature right and micro changes in the setting switch from too cold to too hot water with no way to get comfortable warm water. The elevator can be a long wait at busy times and stairs have locking doors so don't seem to be a good alternative. There is a full gym and pool but I didn't try these out.
For meetings, I would stay here again remembering that this place is a guesthouse not a full hotel.

Wonderful old hotel
This is a wonderful old property. The rooms are simple and yet comfortable. The staff is helpful (limited English, but communication is possible). There is a wonderful breakfast buffet. Nice exercise, sauna and swimming pool on the 3rd floor.
