Stay Away

My parents, husband and I stayed here for one night. We were on a layover and just wanted to stay close by the airport for our early morning flight out. I really wish we would have just "roughed" it and spent the night at the airport instead of coming to this hotel. It should have been a clue when the taxi driver said he's never heard of the hotel and couldn't find it. As soon as we pulled up I knew we made a huge mistake. It was dark and unlit on the outside and walking in it was even darker inside. Hoping that it was because we arrived late (probably 11pm) they had dimmed the lights we got into the elevator. As soon as the elevator opened up I wanted to leave. The hallway leading into the rooms looked like something out of a horror movie. Again, it was dimly lit, the fluorescent lights flickered. There was an awful smell which all I could identify was it was something mixed with smoke. My husband jokingly said as we turned the corner that he wouldn't be surprised if there was and excuse me for being crass a dead hooker laying in the corner. My parents stayed in one room down the hall from us and my husband and I went into our room where our carpet was stained, the room smelled, again the same awful fluorescent lights and the bathroom was dirty and moldy. Just wanting to go to bed I brushed my teeth where the vessel sink bowl would not drain. I quickly realized this so I turned the water off hoping that it would slowly drain down. Before crawling into bed I made my husband pull back the sheets to make sure there wasn't any cockroaches or bed bugs (this is how grossed out I was) luckily there wasn't anything. When we finally go into bed and turned the lights off we heard our neighbors talking extremely loud through the paper thin walls. Laid in bed for about 10 minutes before my husband sits upright and turns the light on and says I feel like something is crawling on me. I felt like that too but thought it was just me psyching myself out. Checked around the bed again and still didn't find anything. I don't think either one of us slept a wink that night. The bed was hard, the sheets were scratchy and the pillow I thought was filled with what felt like the consistency of something grainy. Woke up and I seriously thought about skipping my shower in the morning and braving the 17 hour flight home to the U.S. without a shower to avoid stepping barefoot into the shower, but I knew I would be miserable if I didn't bathe. I probably broke a record for the quickest shower of my life. The water didn't even get hot. I went to brush my teeth again and realized that the sink was still FULL from last night so it was clogged. Too grossed out to see if I could mess with the stopper I brushed my teeth and spit into the shower using a water bottle to rinse. Our flight out wasn't until noon but you better believe I was knocking on my parents door at 7 am ready to leave this hotel and sit in the airport. I asked my parents if their room was as nasty and they said there was mold everywhere. I can't say much about the service my parents are Chinese so they were able to communicate to the concierge so that wasn't an issue. We did tell them about the clogged sink and they said they would go up there to fix it. The WiFi didn't work either. I mean I know this probably isn't the worst review out there (i'm pretty high maintenance and a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels) but just to put in perspective how dingy and gross this place was my husband who goes four wheeling out in the boonies of west virginia and stays in motels where he's found cockroaches and stained towels was more grossed out by this place than those motels. This is by the worst hotel either one of us has stayed in.

Not impressed

Stayed here for two nights, close to the airport and close to where I had meetings. Not very impressed with the hotel. Took a taxi from the airport (no idea how I could find their unmarked free shuttle) and taxi driver had trouble finding it. Then there was no record of my reservation. A Chinese colleague had booked it and after a phone call to him they were able to check me in. Room was OK and clean. Half the powerpoints in the room did not work, shower gel dispenser was empty and also no toilet paper in the bathroom. WiFi worked OK everywhere. There is a restaurant and a coffee bar which were OK. On a Saturday trying to get breakfast at 9am was impossible (sorry, too late!). TV had only Chinese channels. I think calling this an International Business Hotel is a bit misleading. On the plus side, the room was quiet (even though close to the airport and planes fly overhead) and reception staff spoke sufficient English. My Visa card was accepted. Will try to find something better next time.

Not very international

As we don't speak Chinese we thought we'd go for one of the International ones near the airport for our stopover. Big mistake, not very international in terms of language and getting a taxi was impossible for the short distance. Whilst the pickup and drop off was included in the price the organisation was terrible. That said, the driver was very entertaining even though we had no common language as was the doorman. Also, the spitting and smoking inside wasn't pleasant

NO ENGLISH!

Everything would have been great, except if you don't speak Chinese! Luckily for me, my local friend dropped me at the hotel, made sure I was checked in properly, we had dinner before she left me. The next day before my flight, I tried to ask help if there is any nearby salon. It took ages before the reception had someone to assist me as the FO could not understand me at all. Back at the hotel I requested some documents to be printed. I ended up opening their computer with totally chinese alphabets! It's a business hotel and looking through booking.com, it looks good enough but unfortunately NO. Choose Crowne Plaza specially if you require more assistance than I do. Stick with hotels you know best. Pay an extra penny and get the service you paid for.

Stay away

I spent one night in this hotel which is probably located in the most rural downtown of beijing. Our taxi driver had no idea of where was this place... the hotel is just disgusting. Stay away from this hotel even for a relaxing time between flight connexions. The only thing that was good was the hotel driver.
