Very Comfortable

After a 13hour flight the comfortable king bed & wonderful pillows ensured a good night’s sleep, conquering jetlag. We stayed 5 nights in an Executive Suite consisting of a large lounge room & bedroom with adjoining bathroom & bath. The water is hard in Santiago, so don’t expect to lather-up when you are bathing. The Executive Lounge (Club) provided excellent breakfasts with an extensive selection and Evening hors d'oeuvres which varied each night and were outstanding. I was surprised though at evening hors d'oeuvres, that local beer was at a charge. And only a single complimentary choice of Red or White wine, both which could only be described as average. Opting to purchase a local bottle of red wine one night, which was excellent, left me wondering why aren’t higher quality Chilean wines showcased by the the glass (even if an honour pay system, or the like was needed). The requirement to sign (and in many cases, wait) for the tab to be delivered to your table in the Executive Lounge for both breakfast & evening hors d'oeuvres (when it totalled zero) was annoying. My suspicion is that it evolves around tipping. And that’s fine, but a much better way that we encountered on this same trip was at the Sheraton Toronto. Here, the tables already have a slip with pen that enabled guests to provide a gratuity and leave whenever they wish. Lastly, the staff (be that in the Executive Lounge, reception or doorman) were all extremely helpful & friendly.

Well located hotel, near all and away from the crazy city. This property has a nice pool, however needs TLC all over the place. At this hotel there are many issues with their customer service standards. The difference was made by Marco Varela at concierge he was kind and caring, very attentive and made us feel at home.

Nicely appointed rooms, great ....

First thing's first: The San Cristobal shares common areas with the Sheraton. This is the primary reason for my four star rating. Everything is wonderful in the tower, and the breakfast & cocktail hours in the lounge are wonderful with sweeping views, however the pool can get crowded and the common lobby a bit loud. Location is a little isolated from a walking score point of view, but situated nicely to reach many parts of Santiago easily via cab. Rooms are nicely appointed and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and professional. Food was very good across the board. I would stay here again, but I would also look to see if I can find a slightly better hotel next time - perhaps one that doesn't share common areas with another hotel.

Calm and nice hotel a bit outs....

We have stayed here several times and it is a calm and nice place to stay if you want to escape the busy down-town of Santiago. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel (relatively expensive but with excellent food) where you can eat on the terrace, and there are actually several restaurants in walking distance. The hotel offers a very nice swimming-pool area with a bar menu, and during the summer month you can have your breakfast outside in the gardens. Friendly and helpful staff. The best rooms are those facing the pool area, as you can see the Andes in the distance.

Not as expected...

We booked 2 nights in a Grand room with lounge access. Check-in was professional, but cold and haughthy - positive was the welcome drink. Room spacious and nice, good bathroom, good city/street view, but very noisy due to the location on the 10th floor; we expected a higher floor as shows our SPG-profile. They offered a higher location room at the backside of the hotel, (not a good view), which we refused. Lounge excellent the 1st evening, beautiful city-views and comfortable sitting.. The 2nd? lounge not open, without any pre-notice in the room. Staff sent us for the evening snacks and drinks to the Sheraton next door, to a small backroom. No view,, not a nice place. Hot food was cold, not eatable: after reporting this, they warmed up some food in the microwave and as a compensation the next morning coffee and some breads were brought to our room, as we had an early check-out. This was appreciated by us. We had high expectations of this hotel, left very disappointed. Not worth the money we spent. Big name? Smaller service. There are better options, many other international hotels in this vibrant city!
