Lovely hostal in San Pedro
My husband and I stayed here only one night but wish we could’ve stayed longer! After coming back from 3 days of roughing it in Bolivia, this hostal was such an oasis to come back to. The rooms are lovely and clean with hot water. There was a total blackout in San Pedro during our stay and I’m glad we had this room to spend a relaxing, quiet, albeit it dark, evening in.
Please keep in mind you have to pay cash for your reservation.

Clean, quaint, and quiet
A stone’s throw from the action of town, but just far enough to feel quiet and removed. Very clean, and simply though beautifully decorated with textiles that you can buy (and we did!) in the lobby. Evelyn runs the business and is one of the kindest hosts you could ask for, despite a language barrier. She arranged all of our tours for us and walked through a hand drawn map for us! She was so sweet we had to give her a hug upon leaving.

We spent two nights in this hostel and then we had to move because it was totally booked. The lady at the reception is simply perfect: she helped us in finding a beautiful tour at a correct price and suggested excellent restaurants. The room was clean and the kitchen well equipped. Ten minutes walk to center town.

Amazing! Can’t say enough good....
Staying here was a highlight of my 3 week vacation through South America. The owner is one of the kindest people you will likely ever meet. When I arrived she drew me a map of the hostal in relation to town, advised which ATMs were ok/not ok, and where the market and tourism information office was.
The room itself was larger than I expected (a double bed, 2 nightstands, a small shelf, an armchair, and a little table), and the bathroom was a decent size compared to others I’d seen in hotels in Chile. There was hot water which was nice - and it was available day or night (head’s up: you do have to wait about 15 seconds for it to come on). Both were impeccably clean. There is also a kitchen which is open to guests, but I never used it.
I’ve read other reviews that questioned wi-fi access, and I had no issues accessing it from room 4 at any point of my 3 day/2 night stay.
The area: this hostal is about a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town. It’s not far at all, and feels more like a neighborhood than a tourist hole. There is a little market (convenience store) right around the corner that has beverages and snacks if you don’t want to go into the center for little items. The only downside, if any, is late at night the stray dogs can get pretty noisy. However based on how many dogs were in the area in general, i’m almost positive any hostal in the area would have the same feedback.
Overall, I loved this hostal. And if I am ever in San Pedro again, this is the first place I’ll look to stay.

The Good and the Bad
First of all, I think this hotel is comfortable, clean, and well situated. There is even a well stocked kitchen for guests to use. Ideally, i would like to give this hotel a 3.75 to 4 rating if it wasn't for the two resident dogs that bark all night long just outside the rooms. We did mention this to the owner after the first sleepness night, and she promised to remove the dogs from the property for the remaining 2 nights during our stay. Unfortunately she did not fulfill her commitment. If you are a sound sleeper undisturbed by barking and howling, this is a great spot, if however you are a light sleeper, you might want to book elsewhere.
