Lovely property

Nice surprise for my daughter and me! Excellent staff ( Nicole) who was very patient with our limited Spanish. Outstanding architecture, sweet interior design without seeming archaic and exceedingly location. Priced well for offering. Dining area was exceptional with real vibes growing inside. Breakfast was ample with vast selection of real, simple, healthy selections. Rooms clean and older but hey do is the hotel. Bed most comfortable! Chose this and be happy safe and treated well.

A charming, historic hotel wit....

I stayed one night in this hotel on my way back from Torres Del Paine and I thought it was great. It oozes charm, is centrally located, and has a concierge to help you book penguin tours etc. My room was charming and the rich, red velvet and general style was super romantic (of course I was traveling alone!) Maybe a cheaper place would have been fine, but if you're in the mood and want a small upgrade, this is a nice place. It's not a NYC/London/Hong Kong style luxury hotel so don't set your expectations too high, but if you want a little old-word charm at the end of the world, I think you'll be happy.

Charming Historic Hotel

This is an interesting historic property that was previously a private mansion. The main level has many of the original rooms with exquisite details like elaborate molding and beautiful wood floors. My favorite spots were 1) the Shackleton bar where you can see pictures of the famous explorer and enjoy a pisco sour at the same bar he visited once upon a time and 2) the conservatory where we had a delicious breakfast underneath the twisted vines. The rooms are quite simple but comfortable. The staff is very gracious and works hard to provide good service

Be careful; 2nd floor rooms ha....

I was in the Hotel for 2 nights, I arrived late s I did not remark that the room has no real window but a little one at the level of feet of 50 cmm. Inside you feel like in a sarcophage. The location is good but it seems to me that the hotel lives on that leaving open a lot of details: medium quality breakfast, the personal do not accept any critic, etc.

Be a Part of History

I would like to review this establishment as a hotel and in a separate review as a restaurant. This building reeks of history, which you can read about separately, but suffice to say that it was originally built as a mansion for the wife of one of the founding pioneers of Punta Arenas, Jose Nogueira, and later became a very high class social club for many, many years before becoming the present hotel. So it maintains many of the features of a mansion, like high ceilings in several rooms, large swing open windows, wood floors in some rooms, etc. but of course with that comes some disadvantages, like poor acoustic insulation from floors above, or through the windows which look out onto the Main Street in town. But you can request a room on the third floor, in the back wing, which have no floors above, and whose windows look out over a quieter area. The hotel is very clean, the front desk and housekeeping staff are very polite and responsive, the rooms have a fridge-bar, hot water radiator heaters that work very well, and which you can control completely, and Wi-Fi. The included breakfast was more than adequate, 3 kinds of juice, hot tea and coffee, cereals, eggs to order, sliced ham, cheese, and salami, fresh fruit, thick slices of whole wheat or white bread which you can toast right there, and always two or three strudel or cobbler type pastries. All bread and baked goods are made on premise. The nicest part of breakfast is eating in the "Pergola", or Conservatory, which is a long sunroom, glass enclosed open to the light of day. You can also have lunch and dinner here. It takes you back to the nineteenth century. Centrally located right on the plaza, you can walk everywhere in minutes. The Shackleton Bar is worth visiting for sushi and a pisco sour just to see the sketches of the famous odyssey and sit in the Old English style library. This not your Hilton, Sheraton, or Dream hotel, but if you are looking for a Boutique Hotel with lots of history and comfort, this is the place.
