Attempt for theft

First of all, the restaurant was small and the food wasn't good and not enough. We had to wait for a refill and also there weren't enough waiters/waitresses. Secondly, the pool is a part of another hotel, so you have to get out of your hotel and barely dressed walk into the other hotel. Furthermore, one morning we found out that during the night, someone tried to steal our additional baggage (THULE), and yet the 24/7 security didn't know anything about it (or didn't want to talk about it) and did not want to show us the video surveillance from that night. However, the rooms were clean, comfortable, the majority of the staff were polite and the hotel was warm.

Not worth the 4* rating

Big rooms, but that is the only advantage. Furniture is old and dirty, cold rooms on the right side and extremely hot ones on the other side. There is no pool, you can use the pool of hotel Iceberg, which is not even close to White house. No pos terminal, dirt everywhere, bad food, not enough place in the restaurant, people were eating in the lobby bar, where the drinks were too expensive. Paid table tennis, 3 BGN for 30 minutes and the web on the table was broken. Rust in the bathroom, everything was just awful. Don't give your money, it will be complete waste! Never again!

Not nice

That was to say the least. Original Hotel overbooked and moved us to there sister hotel the White house saying there rooms where nicer than there's. (There's must have been s $#@ holes) Arrived they weren't expecting us and had to have one of the guests to translate as none of the staff spoke enough English. Staircase was covered with litter and graffiti on the walls. Room wasn't made up , left keys with reception for room to be cleaned while I walked to the original hotel to complain. On returning to the room found food smeared on the wall and beds made but one with sheet to small and the other had hair and fluff in it. Took three complaints to get it changed.also the balcony had rubbish on it for 3 days and I wish I hadn't even attempted to use the toilet brush as the moldy furry poo that was on it made a right mess. Due to the lack of English spoken by staff and unwillingness to do anything I took the brush and container and put it on reception (hooray that worked ) they cleaned it and returned it to my room. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL Unless you love a good moan.

Not worth the 4* rating

For what we paid for the hotel we really can't complain but it wasn't good. The room was nice & big with a stunning view over the snow-covered trees opposite. We had a separate sitting area with coffee table and there was also a big cloakroom type area, ideal for dumping the ski gear. The balcony doubled up as a fridge which was excellent. The bed was firm yet more comfortable than we'd expected it to be (or maybe we were just so tired after skiing all day that we didn't notice). They did bring us 2 additional pillows pretty quickly after we requested them. The cleaning service was dire. They replaced the wet towels but didn't make the bed nor clean the floors. After a cold and tiring day on the slopes a hot bath would have been lovely but there was only a shower. This was a bit of a logistical nightmare as it was a huge shower with a curtain separating it from the rest of the bathroom. The pressure of the shower moved the curtain away from the 2" high wall so the entire floor was flooded - it was really a wet room I suppose. The toilet worked okay but it must have been fitted by a short-sighted drunk as everything was crooked and I felt very insecure sitting on it! There was no shelf in the bathroom so we had to put the toiletries on the floor which of course got soaked when we took a shower. The tiling in the bathroom was excellent! The lighting in the bedroom was adequate but it was hugely inconvenient not having a light switch by the bed. My husband stubbed his toe on his way back from switching off the lights which made it very uncomfortable for him when he wore his ski boots. The electrical standards are poor with sockets coming away from the wall which looked dangerous. The entrance and lobby area was kept clean with someone almost continually mopping the floor - with so many people coming in wearing muddy and slushy boots , the floor needed continually mopping! There was one very pleasant Receptionist who spoke English but the others were miserable with no English. Okay, I know we're visitors in their country and usually I do speak their language but in this case I didn't know one word of Bulgarian. With so many British tourists, hotel staff really should be able to speak a little English. Their lack of English made them appear very rude and miserable. The steps up to the hotel should have been gritted as they were slippery and dangerous. Wifi was only available in the lobby. I don't go on holiday to use wifi but we had no roaming mobile signal so this was the only way to keep in touch with the family back home. Breakfast was served from 8-9 and dinner from 7-8; we didn't even try to eat dinner in the hotel. The bar closed at 10 which wasn't very helpful. Breakfast was disgusting! We tried the local fayre on the first day and reverted to toast & honey thereafter. Even with the toaster on high power it took 3 run-throughs before the toast was toasted to even a medium colour, which wasted a silly amount of time! As mentioned by another reviewer, the staircase railings are loose and dangerous. The hotel obviously hasn't bothered fixing these in a hurry. The lift was pretty quick and reliable. The room was REALLY hot and we tried to turn the radiator down but it was still throwing out excessive heat even on a zero setting. We reported this but nothing happened while we were there so we just draped the bed throw over it - even then it was still too hot so we opened the balcony door for a while. Probably not a good idea to shout too loudly about this as we could have ended up with no heat at all which would really have been shooting ourselves in the foot. The hotel is not near the village and is more than a 15 minute walk which is pretty hard work, uphill on ice! There is a shuttle bus but it only runs from 8.30 - 9.30 and 3.30 - 4.30 back again. The driver left us behind on the first day so we got a taxi instead which was only just over £1. This is probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Fortunately we only used it for sleeping and it didn't prevent us from having a fantastic time in Borovets. We will definitely return - but not to the Hotel White House!

Hotel staff don't give one. Th....

The food is great...If you only like eating bread! The rooms are constructed like it was slapped together. The light switch for our bathroom was behind a wardrobe! You should find a new hotel because the skiing is fantastic!!! Plus the game room is beaten down and there is a game with girls in bikinis! So inappropriate for kids! Hope you found this useful because I experienced it! P.S you have to get a bus to slopes. When there is hotel at the feet of the slopes. It is called the rila.
