Perfect for families

Just returned from a week 26th May-2nd June. Just slightly out of season everything opens 1st June. No need to leave the complex it has everything you need. Beach, pools and waterpark. Along with the main restaurant you have snack bars and the Italian which you can visit once. I have fussy eaters and their plates were always full never complained about the food. The bars are plentiful and so are the drinks. Cocktails for adults and children the list consists of 50 or more. We didnt watch the entertainment but the entertainment team were hard working always around in the day asking you to join in. Its a full program day and night. Bus stop is outside the door as are taxis if more than 4 of you the best bet is a taxi. Taxi to sunny beach cost 20 lev each way and 10 to nessebar and Ravda. The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels you get left a bottle of water daily. If you require a kettle ask at reception. All in all a good family holiday. Best of all the german bar sausages

A Seriously Great Place For A ....

We're a family of five, my lads are 12, 10 and 8 and we loved this hotel and complex. We arrived on May 26th, the travel agent warned us we were slightly out of season, and some facilities wouldn't be opened, but we enjoyed the calm before the storm. By midweek we could tell that the hotels were getting busier. Luckily for my boys they opened the water slides in the afternoon a few days earlier. As a family we usually go and explore the local area but there was so much to do at the resort we only managed a walk to the beach at Ravda and a morning in old town, Nessebar, we enjoyed it so much we got a cab from the hotel one evening (10 Lev each way but barter with the drivers at Nessebar) I wish we had skipped tea at the hotel that night and had a meal there. There are three hotels in the complex, Nessebar Bay and Mare are 4* and the Palace is 5*. All hotels use the same outdoor facilities, waterslides, tennis etc but there are rules about the use of the Palace pools. The rooms were bright and cleaned regularly. The bathrooms were large and clean. The food was good. The restaurant had a covered outside eating area as well as large inside eating area. It reminded me a little of a Pontin's restaurant as a child, fairly basic but more than adequate. My boys admittedly ate a lot of pizza and pasta but at least they were eating, they also ate loads of fruit which was in plentiful supply and with loads of different varieties. The clientele are from all over Europe and the food choices reflected this. Lots of cheeses, cold cuts, pickled fish and vegetables but there is a regularly changing hot buffet with pork, chicken and beef in sauces, plus meat and fish being cooked on a skillet as well as chips and other vegetables. The morning sees a full English with cooked ham instead of bacon, sausage, scrambled, boiled and fried eggs, pancakes etc plus a huge continental option. I promise you, you won't starve. My lads loved it because there was always something to do or somebody to meet, so they ate quickly and shot off somewhere. There was beer, wine and (named) soft drinks on tap whilst you ate. Throughout the day at the four outside bar areas there is tapas, sausages, donuts, ice creams etc Outside there was loads to do. There were two shops selling inflatables, sweets, beer and cider, sweets and crisp and suncreams. My boys were content to stay by the pools most of the time. The waterslides were a huge hit. There were 12 slides in all and for all ages. Starting with tiny toddler slides at a splash pool, to the medium size slides into a pool of about three foot of water, to the larger slides which were easily worthy of a normal water park, plus a rocky river, a twisting canyon-esque chute which my lads loved flying down on a rubber ring. Throughout the day there was water polo, air rifles, archery, yoga, football,volleyball... you get my drift! It never stops, if you are that kind of person who gets bored just lounging. The beach isn't bad and the sea was warmer than the pools, there wasn't any scuba diving or boats/pedaloes to hire, which was a shame. There are WC's, a beach bar and a beach terrace with sun beds. Finally at night there was a kids disco at 8.30pm every night at the outside arena. Then, at 9.30pm there was a show by the animation team. These were a mixed bag, some were OK but some were excellent. There was a comedy night, which was very slapstick, but its the only way with so many language barriers, a magician (every other week) Asian night with dances based around the cultures of the East and more. What you can't take away from the animation team is the sheer hard graft that they put in. Occupying hotel guests and their children all day and well into the evening and then putting on a show for an hour. The fact that they learned the choreography to over 20 dances is just amazing, no wonder they were treated like celebrities. They were really the jewel in the crown of the complex. After the show they all joined in with the disco that required different dances which loads of people joined in with. Once again loads of beer, cocktails and wine were on hand. My only issue with this was, because we were outside and near pool areas, all out side drinks were served in flimsy plastic cups. I would have preferred a harder polyurethane cup. That's a personal quibble! I'd recommend this hotel to couples, older couples (there were plenty of places to go to avoid the children!) and especially to families. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to groups of young men or ladies, barring the night club at weekend there isn't a lot going on around the hotel. Do make the effort to visit Old town Nessebar, its beautiful. All in all we had a fantastic holiday on every level from the accommodation, staff, catering, activities and especially the animation team. Thank you!

Good Hotel

Went middle May. Not everything open but did open slides while we were there. Food good but same every day. Plenty of choice.Drinks obviously watered down! Hotel staff - some very friendly some miserable as sin! Rooms cleaned every day. Hotel mainly caters for Germans who were very rude and ignorant, so be prepared.Only 3 other families there were British. Plenty to do. Shows at night were ok. Kids Disco very good, my Granddaughter aged 5 loved it. Outside the complex, nothing but tat shops. People not very friendly at all. Health and Safety - your`e having a laugh! Will not be going back to Bulgaria.

Good Holdiay, Excellent Locati....

Booked this hotel a couple of weeks prior to going. Very quick transfer time and we arrived around 2.30am. Easy check in and reception offered to open kitchen for us to eat which we declined. Had to pay for a safe which was 5 lev per evening. Bellboy took our cases to room and demanded a tip! Not a good start, breakfast was so-so as was the food in general. There was one evening which was excellent choice and also the Italian restaurant which can be used once during the week but overall the food choice was poor and quite often meat not cooked thoroughly enough especially chicken. We were only around a couple of days during lunchtime and the choice of food seemed better then than in the evening, although I think food choice in Bulgaria overall is mediocre which I knew before we went and also from speaking to others in different hotels. Location was excellent, quiet area a 5 minute bus trip into Nessebar or Sunny Beach and plenty of walking opportunities. Evening entertainment was varied and few good shows were put on and the animation team worked very hard. Only thing I didn't like was the dress code was not enforced during mealtimes. Overall a good holiday and I would return due to location and facilities on offer.

Amazing Holiday - Great Hotel

I booked a late getaway after monitoring the weather forecast for many holiday resorts in Europe. I have been to the Black Sea before, but usually Golden Sands. How lucky was I to find an All Inclusive Package to the Sol Nessebar Bay? After a warm welcome on Reception, I was shown to my room with a Sea View (at least that is what I paid extra for) - but you had to look hard to glimpse the sea through the trees! But that really was the only slight disappointment - the room was very well equipped and very clean. Sound proofing was good too. The room was cleaned every day and a new 1 litre bottle of water left for me. All of the staff were exceptionally pleasant and only too willing to make guests feel welcome. The pools and Aqua Park were great (I felt like a big kid again) and access to the beach was easy. The beach was sandy with very few stones. The food in the hotel was great - always a wide variety and if you did not want to put long trousers on for dinner, then you could always find one of the bars serving snacks. All Inclusive drinks were fine. The only slight complaint - and this is really trying hard to be critical - is that the self dispensing beer pumps invariably just served froth! What a great time of the year to go too - weather was really good every day. Hotel was busy but never felt crowded. A really big thanks to the management and staff of the Sol Nessebar Bay for making this solo traveller have an excellent holiday. I just wish I had gone for 2 weeks.
