Just fine. Rough round the edg....
If you're after somewhere basic and no thrills then you'll be satisfied.
The staff were polite and helpful and the breakfast was adequate and varied.
The room was spacious but very dated but our bathroom window was unable to close no matter how hard I tried - I'd guess that it has been that way since 1980.
The neighbourhood is extremely shabby with a number of homeless addicts but we were safe enough walking to the nearby metro and bars, where there was a lively carnival atmosphere

Absolutely kindest and helpful....
We stayed at this hotel two nights. Rooms modest but clean. Absolutely kindest and helpful staff - English speaking. There was no problem with leaving the backpacks for the day. Simple breakfast. Quite good location.

So the neighbourhood has some ....
I stayed in this hotel for two nights, arriving by bus and leaving by plane. Yes indeed the neighourhood has some rough edges, although not as rough as the center. Looking for a particular restaurant I couldn't find, and ending up in another that was very good, I saw that in certain streets there was very lively streetculture. People sitting out to eat, enjoy coffee.
The hotel was very nice, clean and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. When i asked about a certain square where i wanted to start my walking tour, two of them came with me to the street: one to explain in portugese and one to translate in english. The one who spoke portugese apologised for not speaking english, for which my standard answer is: thats ok i don't speak portugese. Nice, clean hotel, helpful, friendly staff.

If you are on a tight budget......
A colleague and I ended up at the Terra Nobre after finding our preferred hotels booked up. We booked two rooms but Terra Nobre had messed up and could only offer a twin bedded room. After a long transatlantic flight neither of us had the energy to go searching for another.
On seeing the room we could only laugh - neither of us, used to European and North American business hotels, had stayed in anything like it for many years. The area (Centro) also felt pretty rough as we headed out all suited and carrying laptops etc. in the morning. There was a comic moment when, on leaving a our evening meal in the business district, we gave a taxi driver our destination and he replied that if we were looking for 'that sort of entertainment' he could recommend other places much more appropriate to people like us!
On the other hand, you get what you pay for in this world. The rooms were clean, the staff tried to help and it was MUCH cheaper than the other places that we stayed on our trip.

Don´t come in late, or they se....
We were 5 going to Sao Paulo to see a concert, travelling from Argentina. We got to the hotel at about 10 pm, and to our surprise WE HAD NO ROOMS! Even though I had made the reservation on September 22nd and paid for it on the same day.
They put us in another hotel, a lower quality one, and the next day they gave us our rooms back.
Breakfast is good (Buffet), Internet is wireless free and there is also a computer room with 2 PCs. Rooms are big, average 3 star hotel.
