Inexpensive hotel with pros an....
First the pros - I really like the location. It is a few steps from Praca Republica which has a great craft fair on Sundays. Both the subway and the airport bus are very close to the hotel. There is also a small market on the corner for cheap snacks and drinks. The room had a balcony which was a nice touch. The shower was hot and had good water pressure. There was a safe in the room that fit a tablet, but would not fit a lap top. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels came wrapped in plastic bags.
The cons might be a deal breaker - The rooms can be noisy. There are a couple of bars across the street which can have large crowds spilling out into the street until late. The windows in my room were a glass panel on one side with a metal sliding panel, on the other which did nothing for noise. The only hot water in the room was the shower, which was an electric shower-head. The hot water faucet at the basin had no water. The wifi was slow and sometimes non-existent. The air-conditioning was controlled by a switch in the bedside table, Either it was on or it was off, no way to set the temperature. Hotel staff spoke minimal English.
The neighborhood might seem a bit scary to some people. It is inner city with some homeless people on the streets. There are plenty of people about during the day and evening and a strong police presence in the area. Praca Republica now has a mobile police station and much better lighting.

Good budget hotel in the heart....
The rooms were a bit outdated but really liked the balcony and people watching, colorful part of the city. Praca de Republica is right next door, they have a market on the weekends, good shopping. Staff was attentive and friendly but didn't speak English. Great location for me, everything you need in walking distance. No issue here at all.

Do not bother with this hotel! When I arrived the wifi was broken and was not fixed. The door handle on my room was broken. The balcony door would not close. The bedroom light bulbs did not exist and the room phone did not work. The room was old and smelt very damp. The bed sheet was ripped.
I checked out early as I needed the wifi and they would not discuss reducing my bill as I booked online. No one there spoke English so a fellow traveller attempted to translate but was not much help. All up a very disappointing stay.

A place to avoid, even if you ....
Very old hotel in a lively but not always safe neighbourhood of Sao Paulo. The staff is really very friendly, but this does not offset the rest. Everything is old and it's not even possible to close the window (not for a specific problem: it's simply conceived in a way that it is always only near to the wall and never closes properly), which can prevent you from sleeping considering the liveliness of the surroundings and the fact that you have Virada Cultural and other festivities in República (Virada Cultural has loud music and lasts 24 hours without interruption). Wifi is always down so you have to go to MacDonald's if you want to send a message, and the corridors sometimes have no light. Breakfast is not particularly good and there was a bug happily walking on the table. Not worth the money, even if it's a budget hotel.

Give a feed back
Excellent breakfast, Friendly and helpful staff. It would have good if staff members spoke a little English. The Service in general was very good. Unfortunately there was a festival at the time so for several nights it was very noisy until the early hours of the morning
