Just returned from three days staying at the Windsor Palace. Hotel is located just one block behind the Copacabana beach, which can be viewed from the rooftop pool. Our room at the front even had a view of the beach in between the buildings in front of the hotel. Room itself was quite large, comfortable and clean - although perhaps getting a little dated. The bed was both large and comfortable. The breakfast room was pleasant and staff helpful. Breakfast was of a good quality with plenty of choice from both a hot and cold buffet. As mentioned, there is a rooftop pool which is small but who really needs it when the beach is so close. Sadly the only bar is also on the rooftop, and being April we were the only ones there so it lacked any atmosphere. Reception staff were very helpful and very welcoming. A good, comfortable hotel at a fair price.

Perfect hotel for a family hol....
We arrived at ten o'clock at night to be greeted by very friendly staff. We were upgraded to two superior rooms, which meant that despite the extra bed in each room, we did not feel cramped. Each room had a small balcony.
The rooms were spotless, as were the bathrooms, which looked brand new. The rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard.
Breakfast was a generous choice of fruit, pastries and cereals, with a selection of hot offerings. Service was swift and friendly.
The small pool on the roof was quiet , so much so that although there were only three loungers (plus sufficient chairs and parasols) we were always able to use two of them.
The hotel is one block back from the beach, but as it is taller than the buildings in front, the views from the pool, across the beach and out to sea are uninterrupted.
The hotel is advertised as 4 star, and it certainly deserves them.
We stayed for 8 nights, and could not have chosen a better hotel for our family holiday.
As good as the hotel is, the staff are even better!! They are amazing, front desk, restaurant, room maids,
I cannot praise them highly enough, in their friendly attitude and helpfulness.
A great bonus, was that unlike many hotels, they don't throw you out at checkout time, We were offered beach towels and umbrellas, and use of the pool and changing facilities, even though we did not leave until early evening.
There are numerous restaurants close by, and the metro station only a five minute walk. Buses run to most places from the back of the hotel.

This is how to run a really efficient hotel. We were there
for two separate stays, each of two nights. The staff are the
best, just incredibly friendly and helpful. The three duty
managers we encountered were delightful. We used them
quite a lot to phone a particular taxi company we were using and to confirm a transfer to Ilhe Grande. The hotel was happy
to store our cases for three days when we went off with just
backpacks. Our rooms were large and comfortable.
Everything worked as it should. Breakfasts were good and
are served from 6.00 which was important to us. The
location three or four minutes walk from Copacabana
beach is obviously very convenient. Beach towels are
provided. It really doesn’t matter that there are no sea views. There is a good steak restaurant on the right hand side as you walk to the beach and a more informal restaurant very close by on the corner of the nearby junction. Great pizzas.
Sharing one between two is more than sufficient. There is a convenience store almost opposite the hotel. The immediate
area felt safe. As you can see we were very happy with The
Windsor Palace and thoroughly recommend it.

Highly recommend this hotel
I stayed for 10 days over the New Year and had a lovely stay with my son. The service was impeccable and it felt like staying in a much higher class hotel. The decor in the lobby and corridors is a little dark, perhaps a bit dated, but very clean - everything shone.
Got off to a brilliant start - I had arranged for my bags to be stored at no extra cost until check in time 2pm but on arrival before 10am I was not only allowed to check in immediately but given an upgrade to a higher room with a balcony at no extra cost - despite being told previously, when I had enquired, that a room on a higher floor would not be possible.
Our room was big (and beds large), comfortable and kept spotlessly clean - had fresh towels daily. Maids were friendly and one sang while she worked :) Air con worked well :) Small safe and mini fridge too. Not a lot of storage for clothes for 2 people but enough :) Wifi was great (although was disconnected within minutes of checking out which was a shame as I was around for several hours afterwards before travelling but I did not ask about this and feel sure that this would have been sorted had I asked). Decent powerful shower and nice toiletries. The only thing that would have made it even better would have been some facilities to make tea and coffee - but room service was available.
Lovely small rooftop terrace with good views (fantastic view of the Copacabana New Year fireworks despite being one block away from the seafront), a small gym, a steam room and toilet (a little bit musty) and a small pool for taking a much needed cold dip in :) alongside a bar which can arrange snacks too from room service menu.
Nice choice for breakfast too. Hotel was fully booked and it did seem that everyone wanted breakfast at the same time i.e. about 9am! Better to go earlier or later - food is continually replenished and doesn't run out.
All of the staff were lovely, very helpful, attentive, polite and friendly - opening the door for you, carrying your bags, hailing taxis - nothing was too much trouble. Most spoke good English or managed with our very basic Portuguese and Spanish! They can recommend restaurants and give vouchers for free drinks etc. They even organised and provided a birthday cake for my son at no extra cost!
There is no communal area other than the lobby or the rooftop terrace so not particularly suitable for small children really and not really anywhere other than the lobby if friends staying elsewhere want to visit.
The surrounding area felt safe and all the sights seemed to be easily accessible. There was access to the metro nearby and local supermarkets, bars, restaurants etc.
All in all it was a proper treat and half the price of some of the seafront hotels.
Muito obrigada for a lovely holiday and very good value for what I paid. If I ever return to Rio I would very happily stay at this hotel again.
