Needs a renovation.
My wife and I stayed here as part of a group holiday for 3 nights over carnival.
The hotel is well situated, close to Copacabana beach and Sugarloaf mountain. The reception and bar are well in need of a renovation. Our room was one of 4 close to the lifts which appear to be half the size of the other bedrooms. The bedroom whilst small was adequate for our needs.
Breakfasts were very good with a good selection of cooked and fresh foods.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly a real positive for this hotel. The reception will provide beach towels and parasolls free of charge.
Not a bad hotel by any means just needs a bit of a tart up.

Great Price, Great Location, A....
My husband and I recently spent 4 nights at this hotel during a trip to Rio. The room we stayed in was outdated, but comfortable enough. The location, the service and everything else about the hotel was outstanding. We knew we were going to spend a lot of time exploring the city so we didn't want to pay the price for a really nice room in the location we were looking for since we were not going to be in it much. This fit the bill perfectly as the price was right and it was in the perfect spot. I don't recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxury experience, but if a basic room in a good location is what you need this is for you.

Great price for so close to th....
I stayed at this hotel in 2011 when I went to Rio de Janeiro for training in weighing devices at INMETRO. The hotel was not directly on the Copacabana beach but it was just one block away. The rooms were large and snacks were replenished once you took them. However, the same snacks can be purchased from a nearby supermarket a few blocks away at half the price or less.
You could get partial views of the Copacabana beach from the room I was in but there are buildings that prevented guests from getting a clear view. Guests could still enjoy the cool sea breeze from their rooms even though the hotel was not directly on the beach.
The breakfast that was provided was great. There were many fruits available and I had many options for the main course for breakfast as well. There were many deserts as well but my vegetarian lifestyle prevented me from enjoying these benefits.
The staff were friendly and provided me with the required updates that I needed so that my friend and I could get to our training on time. The staff also assisted us to make the trip to the Corcovado Christ the Redeemer Statue. This is a trip that must be taken when visiting Rio de Janeiro. A trip to Sugarloaf Mountain may also be very wise. However, it would be best to do both trips on a day when the sky is clear otherwise the views may not be as great as they could be.
When visiting this part of the world it would be wise to check the season as well because the seasons in South-America are different from North-America. Additionally, be aware that there are many pick-pockets along the Copacabana beach. Hold on to your belongings and always check around your surroundings.
