Almost like home
From the moment we walked through the front door of Carlton Hotel we were greeted by friendly staff and as English speaking travelers the staff went out of their way to understand and accommodate us. We were meeting a larger group of Brazilians and often after evening meetings would enjoy a delicious meal in their restaurant. The wait staff were also very accommodating. Particularly enjoyed the pleasant young man that worked the 3-11 pm shift. Believe his English name would be Edward. He would purposely use his English and engage in conversation plus was helpful in answering questions. Highly recommend this hotel, rooms clean, beds comfortable, hairdryer provided. Great location to local shopping area and park.

Retro - not great
Expensive for what you get! Old retro rooms which didn't feel clean, walls outside the window crumbling down (literally), thin windows so you could hear every passing car and motorbike (even on 12th floor) all of which combined led to a poor sleep and a resentful handover of money! Wifi costs money here too.

The WORST hotel I've stayed at
If I could give this hotel zero, I would. I stayed at the Carlton Hotel Brazilia for one week, while attending a regional conference. There was no blanket in my room, the air-condition was broken, the floors were smelly and the rooms were not very well cleaned daily. Even the paid wifi worked sporadically. Choose another hotel if you can.

Despite the hotel being old, it is very well located and comfortable , with a very good bed and a wonderful shower . The breakfast is very nice and diverse. Beside the hotel has a large mall that has very lively dining options .

Dated and sad in a horrible ci....
Let's face it: Brasilia itself is a sorry monument to one of architecture's most abhorrent experiments. A city designed from scratch not to be liveable, but to look sharp on paper.
Within one of the areas Oscar Niemeyer and his gang designated for lodging, the Carlton was built next to other free-standing hotels, a block away from Brasilia's desolated and oversized version of Washington DC's mall.
While the hotel and Brazil's capital may have looked fresh and bold when they were built, today they barely breathe. Everything in the Carlton is a bit too old and a bit too shabby and a bit too broken.
The staff tries to be helpful, but the untouched-for-decades building is too tall a task for them to undertake. Noisy, smelly, dumpy, the Carlton won't kill you, but it surely may depress you.
If you can avoid Brasilia altogether, you should. But if you absolutely must stay in that abismal monument to human intellectual pretentiousness, I recommend shelling bigger bucks and sleep at a better hotel than the Carlton will ever
be. Then go away on a very early flight to one of the many beautiful places Brazil and it's wonderful people have to offer you.
