Old and Small Rooms with Bugs;....
I would never have booked this hotel but I was with an organized tour and this was the hotel they chose in Sucre. It is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in Bolivia. I was between 2 stars and 3 stars but settled on 3 stars for the following reasons:
Very good location close to main square
Nice patio and Breakfast room
Gates are locked after dark which is secure
Rooms are terrible (1-star):
-Everything is old and small
-Cracks on the tiles.
- Mold in the bathroom
- There are bugs crawling around the floor
- There was a line of ants in the bathroom.
I had a room on the ground floor closest to reception; and you can hear people in the patio clear as day right outside your door. The pictures of the rooms here seem a little nicer than the room i had, so maybe ask for one on the second floor?
Wifi was extremely slow

Old style hostal
This hotel is old, don't expect five star amenities. The location is good central and seems to be quiet and safe.
The rooms are clean with the beautiful wooden floors washed each day. The door locks are a bit of a joke but with the outer gate secure and watched, it's ok. The courtyard is unique and peaceful to relax there after walking round town. Breakfast is good with lots of fresh fruits and you get asked if you want scrambled or fried eggs. thought that this hotel was worth the money and would stay there again, friendly welcomingplace

Dated hotel, poor wi-fi
I stayed in this hotel as part of Intrepid tour.
My room was on the 2nd floor. There was no heating in the room but I had no problem with it: the bed was warm enough.
Shower pressure was good and the water was hot, even though there was a weird smell coming each time I took a shower (maybe from the water heater?).
My room was dated: some furniture seemed on the verge of breaking down. Each time I took a shower, water was leaking unto the floor (there seemed to be a leak between the shower floor and bathroom floor). The bathroom sink was also leaking: I had to tighten the tap each time so water did not leak.
Wi-fi was very poor.
Location was good: close to main plaza.
Courtyard was nice. Breakfast was ok: you can ask for one eggs, plus the usual (bread, jam, etc.).
I would not stay there again.

Excellent location and charmin....
Room was comfortable, but there was no heat. Usually not a big deal, but we experienced the coldest day in a year, we were told, so you had to stay under the covers to be warm. Biggest issue was asking for 2 eggs for breakfast instead of the one offered. We asked for 2 eggs two days in a row and were told only one egg per person. There are eggs galore all over the market, and what about the eggs other guests didn't accept to offset the one egg maximum per person?. First time in my 110 countries I have ever been refused a second egg. Oh well, we laughed about it and said it would make for a good travel story because eggs are dirt cheap. Would recommend the hotel for its cute courtyard and closeness to the square.

It'll make your stay in Sucre ....
I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hostal Sucre again; between the traditional architecture, charming courtyards and lovely rooms, it was an absolute bargain. Excellent breakfast as well. The hotel is very close to everything you'll want to see in Sucre, meaning you can walk everywhere. I found the area to be pleasant even at night. Most importantly, the staff are friendly and helpful and were patient with my poor command of Spanish, though they were all proficient in English. Five stars from me.
