Good choice right in the centr....
Casa Prado Suites is a good choice in La Paz. One positive is its central location. While rooms are quite basic all essentials are there and staff is most helpful in arranging taxis, storing luggage etc. A nice little breakfast is served in the mornings. Price is reasonable and the service one experiences here good. Recommended.

Could be better
The staff is friendly. The hotel is in an old mansion, and that has a certain charm.
However, maintenance is clearly falling behind. Our first room had a non-working wall plug, and in today's world of needing to re-charge equipment, that was a serious problem. The staff installed an extension cord from the one other inconveniently located plug, but that soon shorted out and filled the room with smoke. We moved.
The next room had a toilet that continually malfunctioned--the internal works had a crack in it. They couldn't fix it while we were there because it was a weekend.
It seems to me that both of these problems were identifiable before we checked in, and in any case led to a less than fully enjoyable stay for us.
The included breakfasts were pretty terrible. I suggest you not order them and go out to one of the close-by restaurants instead.
Finally, the location seems to be a safe one, but it is not in the center of tourist attractions (the cathedral, Witches Market, Museums). We had a 15 minute walk up a slight hill to get there. However, it is cheaper than some hotels in the center.
Overall, it's not a bad place to stay, but you need to keep your expectations in check.

Not bad, could be better...
Stayed for three nights upon arrival in Bolivia. I'm going to use a simple pros/cons list for you to take or leave at your discression, needs, etc.
- location (amazing, actually) is pretty central in the greater city, easy walking access to lots, this is a big plus for 'Prado'
- the building is a nice, old mansion that they've maintained nicely; it feels - and works - more like a B & B than a hotel
- comfort was fine with hot water, nice warm, big bed, and it feels safe
- customer service/communication; admittedly my Spanish is so-so (at best), but staff were not able to "meet in the middle" and they didn't explain/show breakfast details at all, basically saying take your coffee/tea and a fruit salad (when you're entitled to a full b'fast)
- NOISE! We were put in a roadside room, and even with exhaustion + earplugs, sleep was a mighty challenge. Two guys came out front of the Burger King next door and started sawing wood/metal at 2:30am one night.
If staying at 'Prado' be sure to request a quiet room (if they have them)...or hit yourself very hard over the head before bed!
Overall, an okay stay which could have been great.

In the center of things...
Arrived after 2 am and was quickly greeted by staff. Had initial confusion over room rate as our reservation was for a twin room despite noting 2 adults and 1 child on the reservation. Heater in room much needed and extension cord helped move it around (plus charge our electronics). Shower was nice and warm. Location was on busy street and perfect for exploration. When we had to leave abruptly near midnight due to altitude sickness, staff quickly got us a cab and removed the remaining nights from our reservation. Breakfast (eggs, toast and coffee) was good but nothing fancy.

Nice location and friendly peo....
Location is very good in a very safe part, we walked at night around and was completely safe. It is also close by good restaurants and ATM. People at the reception were super nice! They helped us to do laundry, to store our baggage when we left La Paz for few days. Also breakfast was nice and fresh. It is great deal considering the low price you pay!
