Don't rely on their communicat....
This hotel is ideal if you don't want the traffic in Ghent. It is just off the E40. It is easy to see but the entrance is difficult. Our coach driver went round the double loop three times on day one and twice on day two before he got the hang of it. The signposts to the Holiday Inn are very small and you have to go round the enormous IKEA building. I was lucky to have a room that overlooked the atrium. My friend, who asked for a quiet room, overlooked the E40 and said it was noisy. It was also v hot in the rooms. They were very clean and the bed was very comfortable so no complaints at all. At the back of the hotel is the terminus for the tram into Ghent centre which takes about twenty minutes so convenient.
The dining area is in the atrium. very good choice of buffet for breakfast. This hotel seems to rely on coach parties when there isn't an exhibition. We had a buffet dinner each night. The starter was excellent with lots of choice and I had that as my main course. No water on the table which is not usual - you have to buy it! Overall it was good value and the staff were pleasant and helpful.
My main complaint was at reception. On the last evening we both asked for early wake up calls because the coach was leaving very early. Neither came so don't rely on them. Also my husband left numerous calls on their messaging system which does not work. As he wanted to get in contact with me urgently, this was extremely annoying. The hotel has a red messaging button on the phone but it was not flashing. When I spoke to reception they confirmed that my husband had been trying to reach me over two days. For a modern hotel, this is appalling. They weren't bothered and "Have a good day" just doesn't cut it with me.

Too far from anywhere
The hotel itself is adequate, just too far away from anything making you a captive audience.
Breakfast is the highlight of a frankly average hotel which would benefit from being updated.
Paying for parking in what could be viewed as a remote construction site is a bold request.

Fine if you are passing throug....
We stayed for one night as part of a short touring holiday. The reception was good and the staff friendly. Our room was basic and fine though the shower was very weak. Breakfast was a real highlight with a great selection. The location was not great as it is out of town and quite industrial with no shuttle into town or any information about how to get into town. This is probably deliberate to try to make guests eat in the restaurant, but as we wanted to see Ghent it didn’t suit us. The car park is in need of resurfacing and looks a bit like a building site. Overall fine if you are passing through but not if you want to see the town.
