Stayed during a business trip. Lovely service, friendly staff and will be going back. Local to the train station and not far from the town centre, staff was always on hand to help to answer any questions around local sightseeing activities.

Clean, comfortable and friendl....
We just stayed there for a night but it was very pleasant. Everything is clean and the bed is really nice. Good select of TV channel for those interested a good Wifi coverage.
The only reason I didn't give the 5th star is because of the train line in front of the hotel but they provide ear buds which is a nice touch.

Comfortable and Convenient
The Astoria is extremely comfortable and convenient for Ghent. It is on the outskirts so easy to access from the motorway but the tram passes at the bottom of the road so you can get into the old town without difficulty. We walked there and back (25 minutes each way) but regretted it next day! Breakfast is served in a nice dining room with conservatory just off it and there's the option to eat outside in the garden if the weather's nice. Anything that can be homemade on the breakfast buffet seems to be - including yoghurt, granola, jams and even bread pudding! There's ample choice and the staff keep the buffet well stocked so that latecomers have as much choice as the early birds. The hotel does not serve dinner but there's a nice restaurant about a third of a mile away - easy walking distance but the tram goes right past the door. If you want to visit Bruges without the car, there's a direct rail link. Very friendly staff who seem to speak every European language going and they slip seamlessly from French to English to Dutch for the convenience of their guests.

Friendly staff and close to th....
The hotel was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. It is within walking distance from St. Pieters train station. The only negative part was the very small shower, but that is not the first time I have experienced that in Europe.

Near to the station, lovely br....
The hotel is near the train station, but a tram ride away from the Old Town/Historic part of town. Very good continental breakfast. Room pretty basic, unless you pay the higher premium, but couldn't see the point of that, as its only a base. Highly recommend the Gent City Card €30 per person, free tram/bus travel, a boat ride, water taxi and bicycle hire thrown in and entry to enough churches and museums to last 48 hours. Found a lot of the restaurants closed on Mondays and they don't have much information in English, but most staff are fluent. Thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay
