Someone barged in at 9 in the ....
It was 8+ in the morning and I was (luckily) in the washroom when someone just barged into our room! Our door is always locked and my boyfriend was still in his pajamas when one of the staff just opened our door, said "Merci", and closed the door. Like what was that about?
Understand that this is a youth hostel, we did expect the noise level and simplicity of the rooms but unlocking guests' rooms at an hour when they're clearly still inside (sleeping, just woke up, or getting ready) is unacceptable!!

Fine for a couple of nights
Nice hostel. About 20 minutes from central. Quite far from the main train stations but station Botanique isn't far. Quiet area, not much around but there is a bar in the hostel.
This is the first hostel I've stayed at where the room was on two levels, I arrived late and when I entered the room I thought it was empty until I found the stairs. Bedrooms are clean, Beds are okay, comfortable enough to sleep. Breakfast is good.
My only negatives are that the reception staff aren't really very helpful, nor forthcoming with information, apart from when I checked in at the bar, he was quite friendly.
The other negative thing is that on my second night in the hostel, I walked in late to find someone who was meant to be on a top bunk had dragged her mattress onto the floor. It took some time for me to actually realise there were two people sharing the mattress, so they paid for one bed, and both slept on the floor. Never in all my years of travelling have I seen this before. These two women also kept inviting their male friend into an all female dorm room.
I had a good stay regardless

Adequate for our stay but dont....
We stayed her as part of stag trip and booked this as a cheap place to sleep so we never expected luxury.
The hostel is well located (about 15 minute walk from Grand Place). We arrived by taxi transfer from Charleroi airport and first impressions were favourable in a quiet mainly residential area, the entrance was through a small court yard into the reception area. As we arrived 4 hours before checkin we stored our bags in the left luggage room which was located in the basement with no lifts available (bring a decent size padlock to save buying one at reception). Several of the locker cages looked to have damaged or forced open previously, not really inspiring confidence.
The checkin process was quick and easy and we got our rooms (1 twin and 3 triple room). The room i stayed in (423) was adequate and had private toilet and shower. The bed were ok but not the most comfortable, and the room had plenty of lockers and storage space.
The room was clean on arrival with bedding provided to make bed. The bathroom was clean the water pressure in the shower was very poor and at times the water was only trickling out, on our final morning there was no hot water as we showered (an issue many of our party experienced in different rooms). Our room was very warm even with the heating switched off and the windows open. We also noticed several random stains on the wall of our room (see picture)
The hotel reception staff and bar staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. The bar was good and cheap opened from 7pm daily.
Breakfast was little disappointing for whole party but possibly due to it been purely continental so selections of cheeses, ham and bread. Alot if the fruit on offer in the bowl was bruised and soft.
We also made use the games room.
All things considered for a relatively cheap place to stay i would recommend this hostel.

Nice rooms, friendly staff, bu....
The rooms are spacious and clean, but the cleaners had forgotten to put new toilet paper in the bathroom. There were also no sheets, blankets or pillow for me. The bed was empty. I thought that was a bit sloppy. Nevertheless, the staff downstairs at the desk was very friendly.
Breakfast was good. Different kinds of cereal, milk, yogurt, fruit, white bread, brown bread, jams, cheese, ham, turkey, Nutella, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, chocolate milk and juices. Too bad there were no croissants, haha!

Our group stayed here for a single night whilst we explored Brussels on our way back to the ferry at Zeebrugge from Germany.
From the road outside there is little to see and the hostel doesn't shout its existence locally, in the way of signs advertising it's presence.
That said, it is a short walk from the metro station and once inside, it is modern, clean and comfortable.
Those arriving early can store their belongings in a locker in the cellar room, though you will need your own padlock.
