Family of 4 on tour - Grand Ho....
Wow! The Grand Hotel du Sablon is a beautifully appointed hotel with suites available. We were a family of four and had a suite consisting of 2 well appointed bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and an adjoining large lounge/dining area.
There were TVs in each of the bedrooms, ample clean fluffy towels each day plus toiletries provided in the bathrooms. The beds are large and comfortable, with quality bedding ensuring a quality nights sleep. The mattress protectors were not the nasty plastic backed ones either.
Breakfast is included and was a top notch continental breakfast: a choice of breads, rolls, pastries, cereals, cheeses, meats, hot and cold drinks. There is plenty of choice and all was great quality.
The hotel location is very central, a short stroll to the market square, cathedral, bars and restaurants. There is so much to see - all within a very short walk.
There is also a supermarket close by if you wish to buy any food/drink and take it back to the hotel. The hotel even provided a bottle opener for the beers we brought back to enjoy in our room.
We loved our stay at Grand Hotel du Sablon and would love to return. Book now - you won't be disappointed.

Quiet, but close to the bustle
Sablon has the ideal location for me: close to the main (Markt) square with restaurants and tourist destinations, but on a quiet side street. If I were coming back to Bruges, I'd consider staying here again.
One feature I defintely appreciated and made use of was the coffee-maker off the lobby, available 24 hrs. (No coffee-maker in the rooms.) Another nice touch was the basket of croissants and other baked goods left over from breakfast that day.
The included breakfast is very nice: no hot selections, but good cold cereal, cold cuts, cheese, and great bread, among other things. Never crowded, the times we were there.
A huge plus was the reception staff. Absolutely the most friendly, helpful people I've ever dealt with at a hotel. Ask them anything, and they'll try to help. One night there were some loud Russians going back and forth between their rooms on our floor, so we called Raymond about it and he took care of it. (The front desk is only manned till 10PM, but there's a number for assistance for after that, and a code to get into the front door.)
One complaint was had was about the rooms themselves. This is a building not designed to be a hotel, and it's very possible that the rooms are all unique, but in ours there was no way to open the windows. (I believe, after talking to one of the receptionists, that they do open in other rooms.) That would have been nice, because there was not much ventilation otherwise. However, the staff supplied an oscillating floor fan that helped.
Our room came with an adjoining room with a desk and two non-adjustable reclining chairs... for indoor sunning through the skylights? For sitting outside, there's a little courtyard in front of the lobby, with tables and chairs.
There is no fridge or ice-maker or vending machine in the hotel. If you want a cold soft drink, there's a supermarket around the corner. Some strange hours, though, as it seems to close on days when Bruges is celebrating Club Brugge football victories. A laundromat is a few blocks away -- the hotel doesn't offer laundry service itself.
I thought the price was very reasonable for what we got. All-in-all, a good experience.

Lovely hotel, great location
We have recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, the rooms are very large and extremely clean. Staff very friendly and helpful especially Melissa. The hotel is very central down a side street so everything was in walkable distance. Tea and coffee available all day in the main entrance, also available are sweets in jars which was a lovely touch. The courtyard entrance is a lovely area to sit and have drinks in the evening, although the hotel doesn’t have a bar, you are able to bring your own drinks and put them in a fridge just off the reception area. If there was one criticism it would be that the courtyard could be updated with more furniture or plants as it is a lovely area to sit. However I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely charming hotel.

This hotel is only a couple of minutes walk to the centre of town. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere and great decor. Breakfast is continental but plenty to eat. The staff are incredible, very friendly and super professional.

We stayed here for 5 nights. This is a very centrally located hotel. Very near the main square. Everything is within walking distance. The front desk person was very cordial and welcoming. Our room was very spacious and modern. It was a bit warm so they provided a fan, which was fine. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of options. There was coffee available all day and leftover pastries from breakfast which was a nice touch. A small courtyard and lobby to relax and hang out. Also a chalk board near the entrance to write on, which was fun.
