Excellent location by canal an....
Very clean and tidy hotel. Good choices of continental breakfast. Staff very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Only 10 minutes to centre of Bruges. Quiet and lovely situation. Pleasant room and bar area.

Right on a Canal
We booked this hotel at the last minute and were very pleased with the room and the hotel was within walking distance of the city sights. The staff was a little stand-offish and really no good with giving directions. Breakfast buffet was included and very nice.

Nice hotel at reasonable price
The hotel is located at walking distance from city which is great!
There is also available parking spaces around the hotel.
Price is reasonable, given the great location of the hotel.
The breakfast menu can be improved, and also there should be someone to welcome guests during breakfast.

unexpected contradictory stand....
Booked for January only in December and paid as much for two nights here as we had for 5 nights in Austria. It felt like gouging but, then again, the town is expensive. Parking on the street is expensive and thin on the ground so, if arriving in your own car, plan to drop off your luggage and drive to one of the town centre car parks (well lit, feel safe and not that expensive) about twenty minutes' walk away. There are four steps up to the front door buit, once inside, there is a(n old) lift. Greeted as (agreed) late arrivals, given a room key and left to get on with things. There's no porter and no sign of help. I have reported the following to the hotel management (verbally and in writing) when I left. The bathroom was old and dirty. The tiles were cracked, the grouting yucky, the toilet constantly overflowing and the shower curtain disgusting. I even bought and used a bathroom cleaner spray to no effect at all. The room had no view instead had a transfer on the glassshowing a sunny italinate scene. The window handle came off. The room was filled by the bed with little space around it. As for breakfast - this is a pack 'em in hotel with a busy breakfast room crammed with tables and chairs around the central (admittedly good) buffet. Day two saw me down earlier and the place was less busy - a different experience. In the evening, we wanted tea and a young staff member could not have been more pleasant and accomodating. We sat in the silent bar area whilst she hunted around to find a working kettle. Really. She couldn't have been nicer. When I handed in the feedback sheet to the receptionist, I went through it with her - she became bored (obviously) but agreed that feedback is important and the owners would be told. The ONLY point that is good about Europ Hotel is it's closeness to the town centre. It may be a budget price but it is cheap in accomodation.

Spacious, clean family room
I was worried about some of the recent reviews for this hotel, but we were very happy with our stay. The heating worked well, our room was fresh, clean, spacious with lovely views over the canal. Windows opened easily for those who like to let in the night air. The welcome was great, and all staff we encountered were smiley and friendly. A shame that the car park was full, and parking in Bruges can be tricky. Breakfast was great, lots of choice. Only gripe was the breakfast room chairs and tables were tightly packed, and a bit of a squeeze, but we snuck around the corner and ate in the roomier bar area. We would definitely use this hotel again.
