Good place for a quick stopove....
A 20 min walk from the Central Station or quick metro ride, this hostel is clean and has the bare bones for a stay. No soap in bathroom but the room was cleaned each day. Beds are comfortable and lockers (that have locks ) are big enough for medium sized backpacks. The walls and doors are thin but I was lucky to be placed in a 4 person room after booking a 6 person room. Breakfast is nothing spectacular but it's not bad and is buffet style. They were also offering tours of the city in both English and Spanish during my stay. Very nice staff at the front desk and easy for a solo traveler!

Budget option in Antwerp
There are two TA entries for this place: ‘Jeugdherberg Pulcinella’ (38 reviews) and ‘Antwerp Central Youth Hostel’ (59 reviews), which is rather confusing.
We spent a Friday night at Pulcinella Youth Hostel, close to Groenplaats in the centre, because the friend we usually stay with in Antwerp had other people over and she had booked a room for us here. The hostel is housed in a new (2011) purpose-built facility in minimalist style. On the ground floor there is a large reception area with a computer corner, a bar and a lounge. There is a nice-looking library with an odd choice of books, which must have come from a Flemish retirement home. The general impression is rather cold, the hostel isn’t a cosy place.
The girl at the 24 hour reception was efficient and friendly. We paid 62.60 euro and were handed our linen. Our double en-suite (second floor at the back) was bigger than we expected. Apart from two good single beds (covered in a plastic sheet), it had a table and two chairs, a clothes rack and a small key-locked cabinet. The good-sized bathroom was clean. The hostel doesn't provide towels, but sells some at 6 euros. As we didn’t bring our own, we borrowed some from our friends living nearby, together with soap and glasses because there was neither a soap dispenser nor a plastic or cardboard cup for teeth brushing in the room. We had some difficulty inserting the key card in the card reader in our room to have light because the unfortunate way it was installed.
At least on a Friday night, Pulcinella was not a quiet place. We could hear people coming home late, talking and banging doors. There also was a disturbing constant humming noise in our room, maybe from the air-conditioning system. A basic free breakfast is served in a large black and white basement with an outside area. There were no tongs for the bread, which was of industrial quality. The coffee was very bad. Breakfast is served until 10 o’clock sharp, those who arrive a few minutes late find everything gone. All in all, Pulcinella seems a good option if you are staying only one night. For families or groups sharing a larger room, it’s a very good deal.

Like a Botique Hostel!
Antwerp Central Youth Hostel was an absolute surprise. It's location is fantastic- I was able to walk to all the sights that I wanted to see around town. It is right on a quiet square- and when I walked in I was surprised at how much it felt like a boutique hotel- very well designed and maintained. The staff was among the friendliest at any hostel, giving great information and serving drinks at the bar. The room was somewhat spartan, but super clean- room layout is excellent. Highly recommended!

The hostel is clean, modern and comfortable. There are good facilities in the public areas, including free Wifi. The dining are is large, with a patio area for outside dining available. The food is okay. After dinner, we were able to use the dining room as a rehearsal space.
