Lovely family run hotel with g....
17 of us stayed here during ladies week. Facilities were very good and the staff and Owners couldn't be more helpful. The rooms had just recently been refurbished and were in good decorative order. Food was plentiful but were quite happy to cook something if you did not like what was on the menu.
The hotel was set up the mountain about 10 mins away by bus but with lockers at the bottom of the ski lift it was no trouble.

Well Run Family Hotel
Stayed at the Alpenhotel Neuwirt for ten days at the end of April '14. Really enjoyed my stay, clean, comfortable rooms, good food, pleasant little bar for the evenings. It is outside the town but the ski bus calls twice in the morning and in the afternoons, running between the hotel and the main lift base stations. If you don't want to take the bus it's only ten Euros by TaxiMaxi. There is not a lot of après ski in Schladming compared to some resorts but after hammering their blackish red runs all day I was ready for an hour in the hotel spa, supper and a quiet drink. The spa also has the services of a physio/masseuse who is very good at sorting out over stressed muscles!
I went with CeeGee Ski, a small operator who has been using this hotel for years. The good relationship between the hotel and operator certainly helped, everything ran really well.
Would I go back? Already booked for next year!

Ski, Eat amd relax
My partner and I have stayed twice at this hotel. It is situated outside the town but is perfect for ski-ing. First time we stayed the hotel arranged everything, pick up from the airport (we payed but they arranged), ski, boot, lift passes etc.
Mainly has German and Italian guests, but they do speak some english and are more than helpful.
Food is good filling, its not gourmet but you need a good breakfast before you ski and a good meal later. It has a pool, gym, sauna, boot room.
Rooms are spacious, we always had a balcony overlooking the valley, with the slopes on the far side.
A bus stops at the hotel, regardless of how much snow has fallen, several times in the morning and afternoon, this is included in the stay at the hotel.
The TV is all german, so if you are wanting to watch anything take a laptop and some DVD's, though the Simpsons is even more amusing in german.
Overall, a very good family run hotel, thats seeks to please and almost alays achieves it.

great service in family run ho....
My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a week's skiing this winter.
We really enjoyed our stay - for the price, the hotel offers decent three-star accommodation and half-board and a fitness centre. This is topped off by very friendly, charming service from the family that run the establishment.
The hotel is definitely geared towards families with children, quieter couples. This is not somewhere for younger singles. Bear in mind the hotel is located just outside Schladming - access to the lifts is by a skibus stopping outside the hotel.
Most guests seemed to be Austrians, Germans, Brits, Danes.

Posted this again as I noticed I spelt the hotel name slightly wrong, should be Alpen Hotel Neuwirt and not Alpthotel Neuwirt, dont want to confuse anyone.
Have stayed at the Neuwirt for a week in January Skiing the past 2 years.
First class, family run, excellent service, very friendly, with own pool, sauna, steam rooms etc.
Quality says it all.
Its only slight down side, about 2ks from the middle of Scladming, free buses in the morning and late afternoons, and of course there are taxis.
Been with others who have skiied far and wide and the concensus of opinion is you will struggle to beat it. Was there for the 'Night World Cup Slalom Race' and the lifts were never busy.
Skiing is believing!!
Cant really comment, as there seemed so few Brits about, so I do not know what the English speaking instructors are like.
The normal lively bars etc, but maybe not enough going on for a 'Young Group' where Apres Comes first.
75 minute coach from Salzburg. 95 minute train from Salzburg to Schladming.
Notice there is now a Planai bus hopper transfer from salzburg airport to Scladming, works around the German Flight arrivals etc. ( For details see the Planai web page)
Enjoy , you will not be disappointed.
PS Back there with a large group for a week on the 22/01/2006, cant wait.
Happy top answer any queries.
