Very Friendly Staff and Lovely....
We have just returned from a week at this hotel booked through Crystal Ski. The hotel is very nice with a really good spa including steam room, sauna, infrared cabin and resting room - fruit and drinks are also provided. The bedroom is adequate if a little smaller than other 4 star hotels. The cleaning and bed-making (including folding our night things) and daily clean towels were much appreciated. The staff are all lovely but our favourite was Caroline (who's English is brilliant). She literally was everywhere and couldn't do enough to satisfy our needs. The only downer was the position of the hotel for returning from skiing is a little far down the mountain and in poor conditions a little walking over muddy patches might be required (also a bit hard to find). We thought it was in Rohrmoos village but it is half way between Rohrmoos and Schladming. It is convenient to walk down the hill to Schladming but would recommend the bus back as it's pretty steep.

One of the best ski hotels I'v....
Spent a week in this hotel having booked with Crystal Ski. Was pleased that the place wasn't full of other Brits (just two other couples). Shows how good it is that it's popular with Austrians themselves plus a few other nationalities. Also nice to get away from the many British focused hotels you find across the alps.
Room was nice with a fantastic view over Schladming and the valley. Location was fantastic. Ski in/out and only 20 mins walk each way to town if you needed it. There is also a free bus service with the stop right outside but we didn't use it. Instead we enjoyed the walk down and back up the hill. Good to loosen the legs after skiing! Supermarket (Billa) is just at the bottom of the hill if you need anything. We used it for beer and lunch supplies.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. We made an effort to speak German where possible but their English was impeccable as usual, putting us to shame! Particular thanks to our waiter at breakfast and dinner. He never stopped smiling!
Breakfast selection was wide and varied. Plenty to satisfy all tastes. Don't go expecting a fry up... There were always scrambled eggs and sometimes sausage or bacon, but this is Austria and again I liked that they kept it authentic instead of pandering to British tourists as so many places do! If I wanted British food I'd stay in Britain! Loads of different mueslis and cold options. Huge selection of tea and the coffee was good.
Dinner had plenty of choice too. Five courses every night but they were sensible portions. Always two soups. Always 3 mains, meat, fish or veggie. Food was good. Perhaps a bit over salted but otherwise nice. Some particularly nice choices were the veal, venison and Arctic char.
Cake and coffee was served every day too, which you often don't get at ski hotels (just chalets). My only minor complaint is that the cake should be left out until 5pm as we don't all finish skiing before 4pm when the lifts don't close until 4.30pm.
The spa area was great too. We used the sauna and steam room. Nice to ease the muscles after a day on the slopes. Robes and slippers provided in your room.
Ski and boot room was easily accessible and secure. Locked after 6pm and covered by security cameras. I usually don't use boot heaters as they can damage a custom fitted boot but these ones were not too hot... Just right to dry your boots out.
I can't recommend this hotel enough. Yes, you can pay a fortune and have absolute five star luxury, but for the price I don't think you'll find many better small four star ski hotels in the alps.

Great hotel, good location
Comfortable traditional chalet style hotel with nice rooms and a view overlooking either the pretty town or slopes. 5 course evening dinner with good quality food. Afternoon tea/cake served a bit early (3pm to 4pm) and tended to run out near the end. Large selection of hot and cold buffet breakfast. Ski in and out though not for beginners. Town/ski bus stops very near the hotel for anyone not fancying the ski in and out though buses sometimes run once or twice in the hour. Weather not great (second week in January) very cold and snowing most of the time but would recommend this hotel and the resort in general.

Great hotel with friendly staf....
Just returned from this hotel after spending a fantastic week's skiing with Crystal in the four mountains in this part of the Ski Amade area. I cannot speak highly enough of this lovely hotel. We stayed in the Landhaus Hubertus, which is an annexe of the main hotel. The room was spacious and and comfortable with a great view down the valley to the village of Schladming. We took breakfast at the Landhaus, which was great with a cooked option always available. Dinner was taken in the main hotel and never disappointed. It is possible to ski down to the Planai West gondola from the hotel, but buses are also an option to either go down to Planai West or up to Rohrmoos. The hotel staff were always helpful and friendly. They were able to provide everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. All the staff were great but I will make a special mention of Caroline who, we joked, must have a twin sister working in the hotel. One minute she was behind reception, the next serving at our dinner table, then was providing our post dinner drinks at the bar. In conclusion we had a great stay and highly recommend this hotel to others.

Good Location, Great Food and ....
We stayed at the Alpenhotel Erzherzog Johann having stayed across the road at the Landhaus Hubertus on a previous occasion. Consequently we knew about the excellent food having taken our evening meals at the Alpenhotel Erzherzog Johann. We were not disappointed by the quality or variety on this visit.
We were also aware of its excellent location, ski in ski out although skiing to and from the hotel can be a challenge if you are a beginner. Having said that for beginners the ski bus stops directly outside and will take you to Rohrmoos to the beginner’s slopes there. It is a 10-15 minutes’ walk downhill to the centre of the town and a five minute ride in a taxi back at a cost of a few Euros a head.
This is a traditional Austrian hotel with typical Austrian decor and rooms. The rooms are clean and comfortable and a good size, compared to the UK, perhaps smaller than some in the USA, with a balcony if you have good enough weather to enjoy it. There is a small bar in which to enjoy that first beer after a hard days skiing and a very good wellness centre, with sauna and steam room etc to ease those aching muscles. The fact that it provides easy access to the Schladming – Dachstein ski area (see my other review) makes this an ideal place to stay for your skiing holiday.
The staff are helpful and polite and many have good English, which always makes a stay easier.
We will be back!
