Wonderful Week

I have just returned from a wonderful week based at The Seehotel Schlick. As soon as I walked into the beautiful reception area I knew we were going to enjoy our stay! We found all staff to be very helpful and hard working. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and warm. We had a lake view which was amazing. We always found plenty to choose from food wise and we enjoyed everything we ate. On our last evening we were taken around the village by candle light by the lady from the hotel and finished our walk by the hotel/lake where we had gluhwein singing farewell songs. We were all sad to leave. Can't wait to go back again!!

Poor hotel in excellent locati....

We booked a half board package holiday through Thomsons holidays at short notice so had little choice of hotel. There was no one on reception when we arrived, nor throughout our stay. You ring the bell and wait for someone to come if you need anything. Apart from this check in was smooth. We only had one request during our week and this was efficiently dealt with. We also, had to ask for our tourist cards. Our room was adequate, there would have been a side lake view, but this was blocked by trees (no complaints about this, we didn't request a lake view). The bed was uncomfortable, I think the mattresses are memory foam and were very hot and unsupportive. There are no towels for taking for swimming, unless you take the bath towel, we had one bath sheet and one bath towel rather than two bath sheets. The towels weren't changed all week, if you want your towels changed you must put them on the floor as requested. Rooms and hotel areas were generally clean, however our toilet was badly stained and in need of bleaching. Breakfast buffet - freshly baked bread, plenty of cold meats, boiled eggs, cereal but no sign of individual orders. Fruit salad looked awful every day, probably as it had apple and banana in. Evening meals were poor, fresh salad buffet was good, two main course choices, but food was overlooked and dry, I think it is cooked early and kept hot, food leaving the kitchen for the outdoor cafe looked much better. Dessert was cake (not like you see in the konditereiri) every night except for one when it was rice pudding. Food quality is an important consideration as eating out is not cheap at the minute. I would have liked to review the cafe as well however, we went for a drink when we arrived, although the whole cafe was reserved it was empty, when we sat down we were chased by a big grumpy german speaking waiter. We didn't go back, which meant that the hotel had no where to have a drink outside. Cafe flora was very welcoming. There is a good balcony for sitting outside. There was no information in the room, there is a good information stand in reception. We are familiar with Fuschlsee so this wasn't a problem for us. Fuschl is an excellent base for walking and sight seeing, there's a good bus service to Salzburg and surrounding areas and only a short journey from the airport.

We booked a room with a balcony and got a room with a dark damp hole in wall.Check in was a pleasant experience but when we got seated in the dining room things changed dramatically! i had the cheek to ask if we could be seated outside, she mumbled and walked off, then returned and said they were not for us because we had a package holiday. The lady snubbed us every day after that and we were staying for 2 weeks, yikes! To be fair the hotel is in a gorgeous setting with amazing walks and transport. Food was fair ,not as good as other hotels in Austria. T he rest of the staff were pleasant and friendly but we spent as little time as possible there. We shall not be returning to Austria as this woman has instilled a dread in me, so on to pastures anew. If you should book this hotel do not question anything with this older woman, try another member of the family..

Enjoyable stay in Fuschl

Thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Fuschl - great location for walking as well as using the buses to get to Salzburg and St Gilgen/ Strobl etc. Room adequate - would have preferred it to have a fridge. Good food, especially enjoyed the Austrian buffet in first week. Ideally more fruit and veg on the menu but salad bar always good. Some beautiful sunsets and views from on top of the mountains.

Beautiful location

This hotel is situated on the shores of Lake Fuschl and the views and sunsets are magnificent. There is also a small park area which is also very beautiful and has a ferry landing. The hotel is very clean but the part we stayed in did need updating. We had a lake view room which was quite small with a tiny shower which drained very poorly, and a large stain on the carpet. Please be also aware that the lifts can have slippy floors , as they dont appear to dry them, take care. The breakfasts were nice but I have had a lot better in Austria, there is a charge for scrambled eggs etc. The evening meals were tasty , but we noticed that the meals which were made for the outside eating area were much better quality, we also ate out one lunch time and it was beautiful and definitely of a higher standard, very reasonable too. The cakes are also delicious and some drinks reasonable . The hotel is in a very good location to visit St Wolfgang, Lake Mondsee , St Gilgen etc. Most of the staff at the hotel are friendly but we did have to ask for the area card and pass for the swimming pool, no forthcoming information like previous stays in other resorts. One aspect of this holiday which I was upset and offended by was the typed note which was left on my pillow stating that the towels everyday had make- on them and they could not clean them anymore. There was admittedly some residue of make-up on them , but I did feel this was unjustified and I did on departure speak to the Manager about this who apoogised and said she did authorise the maids to do this and it was standard. So ladies please take a make-up towel or be prepared to be told off. Our room was not cleaned one day and I didnt complain , only asked for some clean towels and made the Manager aware. There was no apology or offer of someone coming up to empty the bin, or clean the bathroom, as my own bathroom at home is cleaned at least once a day i expected the same, as we have paid for this service. I also thought that the reception desk was often left unattended and resident`s keys were not kept as safe as they could be and we often waited a while to speak to someone, seems like they need more staff. There were no concerts or brass bands playing in the area the week we stayed which is a shame as we really enjoy this. The village has a view shops, very expensive. The village itself is very pretty and clean and has a good bus service to surrounding areas. Cafe Flora is very nice, good staff.
