Shabby/ chic Country Estate wi....
Our room in the stable block was full of character and reminded us of a French Gite.
The extensive gardens were absolutely beautiful but wild and rambling in places. The property is a stone throw from the beach and as a result has amazing views of the bay. If your lucky you may even see the odd penguin. The main house has great character but is arguably a little tired and needs some investment. Sofia (one of the owners) works wonders in the kitchen and her team made us feel very welcome . Make sure you work up apatite as portion sizes are generous. Certainly worth a visit as well as tasting their late harvest dessert wine produced from the property’s vineyard.

Rustic is as Rustic Does
We have visited the restaurant at Hawley on many occasions and stayed over before. We absolutely love this place and it feels like coming home to us, but it is not for everyone. The setting is perfection. Garden and sea views in a secluded expansive setting are offered, and yet only a stones throw away is the hubbub of a busy little beachside community. The meals are wonderful and reasonably priced, and staff are friendly and attentive. We found the room charge to be a little overpriced even with a discount. However we were disappointed with the property maintenance. Those looking for 5 star cleanliness will be disappointed and the gardens and surrounds are begging for attention. Just a minor point but agapanthus and red hot pokers do not meet my standard of 'fresh flowers in the room'.

i stayed here with my 2 dogs the end of march. breakfast was part of the package but unfortunately it wasn't available till 8am. not brilliant if you need to get away early. sadly we had to miss out. views are truly magnificent. the wildlife including peacocks was quite beautiful. now the buildings seriously need a whole heap of work. running an establishment like this would be a daunting process.but seriously it definitely needs a truckload of work. the room we were in had a spa bath with the shower over it. its extremely difficult to get over the edge of it into the tub for a shower. not great if your an older person. i really didn't go much on the rooms decor, old and dusty, bu to someone else they may find it rustic. the owners were really friendly as well as their dogs. perhaps they could do a few fundraisers to raise restoration funds.

"One of a kind place to be!!! ....
I stayed with my 2 children over New Years Eve and it was astonishing. The kids instantly felt safe & very welcomed. Sophie, Melissa and Yvonne's hospitality service reflected experience & kindness upfront. We played Frisbee on the lawn outside the main hotel, discovered beautiful wildlife up close, went for walks around the lake and discovered little statues and well kept treasures along the way. My daughter imitated being a statue as well and we had giggle and laughs all around. Hawley House is a property to be proud of and we are so lucky to have had the experience. The house is full of history and kept clean and treasured. We loved the piano in the living room, the books and games in the library, all complimentary and happy to share. Some of the inventory would be so much worth. Thank you for the generosity The fresh home made breakfast is a must for every visitor. Hawely honey with home made bread, fresh fruit salad and much more.... An unique experience, holiday for sure and best to start the year 2018 with. We will certainly return & would recommend it without hesitation.

Outstanding heritage property
My partner and I and our 2 dogs stayed here in October 2017 and February 2018. We live part of the year in southern Tasmania and Hawley is the ideal stop off point before/after catching the day ferry.
We loved the heritage of the building. It's definitely not a restored heritage building with beige and white furnishings. However it is an extraordinary example of conservation heritage. The property exudes a sense of history. The additions to the original building are stunning
Hawley House is spotlessly clean and breakfasts are fresh and healthy.
Sophie, the manager is incredibly helpful and it's apparent she has a strong sense of attachment to her family property. Other staff we have encountered have gone out of their way to provide a very high level of service.
We will be back later in the year and look forward to sampling an evening meal.
