I lived here as a student. Her....
When you first arrive, you will get lost. The accommodation is located at the back of the university and with three entrances it does get difficult to navigate from which entrance you enter through, so I highly recommend researching on google and calling ahead. If it helps look up the street Bargo Boulevard on Google and you'll be able to see the accommodation slightly to the middle left of a big "U" shape of road inside the University grounds.
The signage to aid visitors is up to the University's discretion rather than the private entity Campus Living Villages (CLV) that runs the accommodation.
There are laws on smoking but university security and the Resident Assistants have no power to stop them other than telling them to stop. And security won't do much if they don't see it or choose not to see it happen. Also regarding noise, you can call the Resident Assistant on the after hours number and make a noise complaint. The noise curfew is 21:00 during the exam period, though many students finish exams within the first week whilst the curfew stays on for three weeks so there may be earlier celebrations. Otherwise the noise curfew is 23:00 Sun-Thur and 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. If after the first noise complaint, it happens again, you're welcome to call Security (but tell them this is the second time you've called about the noise and have notified the Resident Assistant) and they will be able to deal with more grunt and authority.
If you're parking on the grounds, I do recommend calling ahead and asking for a permit to be added to the costs. When you arrive, the office will hand you a permit to write your number plate and leave on your dash. They cost $7 per day, but Security start booking cars from around 09:00-10:00am, the night shift Security don't bother booking anyone. Us students have been charged ourselves so we understand how frustrating it is when you see a ~$100 fine on the windshield.
In the colder months, ask for 2 extra blankets. And insist on it! The heaters may or may not work, but you are allowed to request for more blankets if need be. That includes pillows and towels too. In fact, if you're needing anything, just ring the office or after hours number to request ANYTHING you need. Even dish soap and sponges if they haven't been replaced with new ones (by mistake of course)
Other reviews have mentioned that there's no air con. Yes. and us students have to purchase our own portable air cons and fans because half the buildings don't have fans or heaters in the rooms. But for the short stays, there is a ceiling fan and a heater. But if you're staying during summer, request a south facing room as it's a lot cooler without the direct sunlight and leave the window open at night, and shut it in the mornings including the blinds. In winter request for a north facing room and on the top or middle level for extra sunlight and have the blinds open to warm up the room whilst you're out.
The bedrooms will be clean when you arrive, and yes there is plenty of space, with a study desk, chair and wardrobes for your belongings, but the shared living spaces will vary depending on who is staying there at the time. If no one has stayed in that apartment the night before then the entire place will be spotless though I wouldn't know much about the smells. Otherwise the cleaners will do what they can before you're expected to check in.
The WiFi is managed by the University for Western Sydney University students. If you're from another educational institute contact your IT department for an account with "eduroam", otherwise you'll have to use your own data from your phone. Remember: this is student accommodation, not a hotel or motel. No matter what other booking sites say, there is no free WiFi. But if it helps, the WiFi isn't that great and has crashed too many times.
Another reviewer mentioned phone reception. Phone reception is based on the coverage your own phone network provides. In Penrith, Optus and Vodaphone are the more commonly used networks with 4g available throughout the campus. Though perhaps they may have been on the ground floor, which may play a part in a lack of reception.
The rooms you'll be staying in are the same or of higher standards as to what the students are staying in. So if you're complaining about the location, state of cleanliness, the heat or cold, or the kindness of Security, that's exactly what the students have to go through everyday they live there. So be thankful that although it was bad, it's not permanent.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!
The apartment was absolutely FILTHY!! When we arrived, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed, the kitchen floor had not been swept or mopped. There was dirt and grass, and other crap all over the floors. There were food crumbs all over the kitchen counter, the rubbish bins hadn't been emptied, the kitchen sink was filthy and had dirty dishes in and on the sink, as well as dirty sponges in the sink. There were dirty marks on the kitchen cupboards and crumbs inside the drawers. There was a dirty frypan on the stove, and the stove had crumbs and salt all over it. There was a cigar butt in the cupboard, the inside of the kettle was black, it was so dirty. There was dirt and crumbs on the couch and a cigar wrapper on the floor. The iron and ironing board had not been put away and was still up in the lounge area. The hallway had not been vacuumed, the bathrooms were so disgusting, we refused to shower till they'd been cleaned. We already had to wait 2 hours for them to clean our room so we could check in. They returned 5 hours AFTER we arrived to clean the bathrooms. The bathroom floor was filthy, the basin was filthy, the taps were filthy. There was old, used soap in the shower, there was mould in the shower, there was rubbish in the bathroom bins, the toilet paper was on the basin next to the toilet, and not on the toilet roll dispenser, the dirty mop was left in the bathroom, though the floor hadn't even been cleaned. There was poo on the inside rim of the toilet. Every light fixture was filled with dead bugs and dust, there were cobwebs on all the walls, dust and dirt in every drawer and cupboard. The skirting boards and fans were filthy, the tops of the light switches and power points had dust all over them, the mirrors hadn't been cleaned. The only thing that HAD been done, was that they'd put clean sheets on the bed, and supplied a clean towel, but we even found a hair in the bed. It was so disgusting, I would never stay there again, and I will tell anyone who'll listen, NOT to EVER stay there!! It was so disgusting, I was so disgusted, that I want my money back!! Every single cent!! The photos I included, were taken when we arrived and were shown to our room. This is how the apartment looked WHEN WE ARRIVED, AFTER WE'D WAITED TWO HOURS FOR THEM TO CLEAN IT, SO WE COULD CHECK IN!!

Haha..can't believe I didn't r....
I agree with every review so far! Reception tried to describe where I had to go on the mobile but I couldn't see any signs! Parking ticket box was out of order and one some distance away in another carpark took my money but didn't give me a ticket. Didn't need this hassle after driving almost 6 hrs , in our room, 27...carpets were badly stained all up the hallway, in lounge area and 2 bedrooms. Both lounges were also stained, didn't want to stay with strangers so we booked a 5 bedroom for 3 of us, not cheap for 250 a night for what you got.
Yes I also was quite cold in the night and had to find a jacket to sleep in. Unfortunately we had a group of very loud blokes talking, laughing and constantly smoking under our kitchen window...on the hour every hour from at least 8pm until 1.45am as they woke me despite the no smoking rule. There was also one of those noisy little peewee motorbikes going up and down the fence border at about 2am.
Finally made it through the night, we were ready to leave Sunday morning...moved the car to the loading bay to put our bags in when the security came along, I greeted him pleasantly with a "Hi, good morning", his reply..."how long are you going to be parked there?" Pardon? I tell him about the smokers as they are in the room below us, his reply "Well I didn't see them", I tell him to have a look on the hr every hour...they're are not hard to miss...their butts in the garden directly opposite their door will be a giveaway. Why have the rules spelt out in the forms they give you on check-in if they don't even do anything about it? General cleaning is lacking, cutlery needed to be washed before using. Sooo wanted to do a feedback form but the one they say is in your envelope wasn't even there!
The annoying thing is that the place looked so much better on the booking site and internet photos.
On a good note, some of the rooms were clean and the bathrooms we had provided a good shower with hot water. We had clean sheets, towels and bath mat.

Just remember what it is! It's....
Looks like lots of people complain about this place as though it's a hotel, completely forgetting that it's a room in student accommodation. If you want five star rooms, you'll have to pay more than 65 a night!
PROS: Apartment generally clean, I got a quiet one, plenty of space in room for storing stuff, RA who checked me in very nice, great showers. Very secure with swipe fob access to front door and lockable rooms. Extremely well-equipped kitchen (did not use) and good towels/bathmat. Spare pillow and blanket readily available in one of the drawers. Good big desk, on good angle for working on. Fan was effective at night in keeping the room at a livable temperature. I found it reasonably easy to find, also.
CONS: Having strangers come and go is a bit spooky. Paying for parking is a rort. On the last two nights the machine was out of order (on one night only displaying such after taking my money twice) and I was fortunate not to get a ticket. Mattresses kind of hard and pillows flat, but that was circumventable. No aircon in rooms - it was 40C on one day of my stay. Suffice to say I quickly went to the ice rink! There was still food in the fridge from previous residents and lots of bottles of shower stuff in the bathroom. No internet is also kind of sucky and phone reception varies wildly. No powerpoint next to bed?
Would stay again (and in fact will on a separate trip next week). Travelled solo but would be excellent for sports groups or social groups.
