Away from the Maddening Crowd

Hidden at the beach in Corlette, not too far from Port Stephens this gem is at the end of a cul de sac, making it very quiet. An upper-cut elegant resort with excellent service and views out into the inlet. If you want to go shopping or eat out, you need to drive a short distance to Nelson Bay etc. There is one very god restaurant in the hotel. One of the highlight this winter were drinks at their open fire place. If you need to get away from everything, this is it.

This Hotel is Wonderful

It has Hampton style décor, as if out of the pages of a glossy magazine. A 1 minute walk to the beach, a view of the Marina from my room. Quiet. A waiter that brings you drinks by the pool without needing to wait more than a few minutes for service. Large blue and white towels on hand, day beds, happy hour with complimentary snacks. A family pool, a separate adult pool out of the way if you are kid free. The most exquisite day spa I’ve ever been too, with architecturally designed rooms, delightful spa staff and again robes, slippers and drinks. Two restaurants that delivered meals to an outstanding standard. Nothing was too much trouble. But oh my, the buffet breakfast - WOW. Bubbles on ice for all, fresh fruit, pancakes, the usual hot dishes, fresh pastries, continental items. Over 5 breakfasts, I still hadn’t tried everything. We were travelling with a toddler and although feeding him could be tricky, the hotel was helpful. We loved that we could take him for walks in the pram straight out of our ground floor room. We were appreciative the hotel would heat his separate meals up for us. There were never any issues anywhere at this venue with cleanliness. It was spotless, well done to the housekeepers. The room was comfortable. By way of feedback, I would have expected a proper king bed in the room, not two king singles that have a clever hidden Velcro patch across them. This is often done by small hotels to save on the price of buying king beds. With the toddler however, this often forces me into the middle of the bed and sleeping on the Velcro patch, not so comfortable. We own a king bed with no seam in the centre of the mattress and they make a much better night’s sleep than the two singles stuck together. When he's old enough to take his own bed, we will be back for a family room. Despite the bed issue, this hotel would be up there as one of the best I’ve stayed at in Australia. What makes a big impression is the staff. They are local people. They all speak English clearly. They could not be more helpful and the sheer luxury of this boutique hotel is delightful. Bring me another cocktail by the pool; snap, oh and now I feel like food too; snap, oh and now I need another towel; snap…..All done happily. Being an independent boutique resort made a great change from the normal but often disappointing standard delivery of the usual big names. I liked the classy toiletries, the sandstone tiles, the bronze light fittings, the leather chairs. If I could change a few things it would be this 1. The bar fridge was never ever cold and 2. Can I go back please again and stay longer.

This was my first time in Newcastle and I was absolutely blown away by this place! EXCEPTIONAL service, exceptional food, exceptional people. The staff there go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. The General Manager even came over to say hello. I will most definitely be back.

Blissful elegance

We only had time for one night this time but we will certainly be back. The Hampton style rooms and hotel surrounds are divine. The food is lovely and breakfast by the pool this morning was so relaxing. The bed was so comfortable. Love this place.
