Nice room let down by appallin....
I booked into the Studio Drummond room to stay for two nights (Friday and Saturday) for a weekend course. The location is excellent, and the house itself has a wonderful reception/ lounge room which made a welcome change from the sterile, overpriced hotel rooms I have sometimes stayed in whilst in Melbourne.
Unfortunately the next two nights were severely disrupted due to the excessive and regular noise outside caused by mainly by inconsiderate student neighbours who would yell at each other in the street and slam car doors and on the first night by two other neighbours who stood outside on the pavement talking and smoking from 3 a.m. to 4.30 a.m.
I spoke with the owner to see if I could switch to a quieter room, but the others were taken, he offered to remain onsite the second night in case of a repeat of the first night which was good, but the disturbances the following night were only some brief shouting as people were getting in and out of Ubers in the middle of the night, and this was after purchasing earplugs.
Not great if you are a light sleeper, try to get the rear rooms if you are one.
The free Wi Fi also disappeared on the second night.

don't stay here
My husband and I booked into this place for two nights late November. From the outside, it looked attractive and inviting. When we went into the front hall we were almost overpowered by the intense chemical smell of what presumably was a cleaning agent or air freshener. This pervaded the premises. We struggled up the narrow stairs and were dismayed when we saw our Studio Drummond. I had specifically ordered twin beds; there was one King size bed. The small apartment was by my estimate, less than adequate - we looked into the tired bathroom. The place in general was tired and very ordinary. We decided that life was too short to waste two nights here, and so we forfeited our tariff, and booked into a hotel. We have travelled a lot and have never before done that. I contacted the owner twice: once in a telephone call, and once by email. I have not had a reply and I consider this discourteous.

Perfect location in heart of C....
Stayed here whilst in Melbourne for a short stay attending a work conference. Check in was easy, great size room with kitchen facilities and separate bathroom. All the facilities you would need including ironing board, wifi and couch. Excellent location one street back from Lygon St and walking distance to Melb Uni and the city centre (in fact I walked from Southern Cross station). Sandy is lovely and evening had a pat of their very old and friendly dog. Home away from home and would stay again.

Perfect place to stay in Melbo....
We spent three nights here as a couple. The accomodation is just as described. Clean, cozy and comfortable and has the lovely charm of a terrace. It feels very Melbourne.
Short walk to restaurants and cafes and tram stop. A great central location but it was very quiet.
The check in and out was super easy. We received a text with entry instructions and the operator allowed us to have a late check out. There is no reception which did not bother us. We loved it and this will be our place to stay in Melbourne from now on!

An absolute gem
My first stay at Carlton Terraces and I can assure you I will be back.
You will find yourself in the heart of Carlton, close enough to walk to all the main attractions in this area.
Neat, clean, well cared for and absolutely, wonderfully quiet. The owner was very accommodating and helpful not to mention the thoughtful gifts provided for staying here.
It is boutique yet modern enough at the same time.
Great linen and super comfy bed.
