Pretty good hotel with great sized rooms. Parking is annoying as it was full and we had to park on road. Residents take up pretty much all parking spots. Kinda weirdly positioned with it located in the middle of a residential area however it didn’t really bother us being it was a quick 1 night stay due to a late flight arrival. Wouldn’t recommend for a holiday as it’s out of it

Modern apartments handy to air....
We stayed five nights for Queensland Girl's Cricket state championships. It is also handy to basketball, AFL, table tennis, soccer and other sporting venues. The airport is close by but we didn't appear to be under the flight path.
We were four adults and two children. We asked for a three bedroom apartment. It turned out to be two separate rooms/suites with a common foyer.
Check in is between 2pm and 6pm on weekends (8pm on weekdays). Charmaine at reception was friendly and helpful. There is supposed to be an on-site manager for after hours, but we were unable to contact him/her.
My wife and I had a large motel style room with a comfy king sized bed. The very small balcony overlooked the ocean, some islands, and Hay Point. Our son and his wife and children had a two bedroom suite with a large balcony and the same excellent views, although the AC unit was also on their balcony, which made it hot to sit at the table. It was great for drying towels though.
I would not call the motel style room self contained. It had a largish fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, and cutlery and crockery for two. However there was no stove with oven, kitchen sink, dishwasher, washing machine, or clothes dryer. The suite however, had all of these, so it was self-contained.
Another design quirk was that in the suite it was impossible to open the fridge if the door to the common foyer was open. The double towel racks were also pretty useless. They were not long enough for the full width of a standard sized towel, and it was difficult to fold the towels and have them fit between the spaces. The pumps providing water to our eighth floor surged all the time while showering, although the temperature remained constant.
The car park is undercover, but very tight. It required very slow and careful maneuvering, and the spaces were tiny. SUV drivers beware. Courtesy buses will take you to and from various clubs, and some local eateries will deliver.
For our purposes Pacific Sands was fine. If the above anomalies would bother you, you may not be happy.

Great stay clean and comfortab....
Stayed for work trip and must say was pleasantly surprised by the rooms.
My room was spotless, loved that I can cook in the kitchen that is well equipped with a full size fridge.
Bathroom was big and laundry was a bonus.
Wifi was a bit spotty but to be expected in a hotel where lots of people are using it. Spoke to others in the group they didn’t have a problem with theirs so could just be my hook up.
Serviced throughout the week with fresh towels and coffee and tea

Very Good Experience
Clean bright modern place to stay; Everything there to make your stay comfortable. We were only in Mackay on our way North but enjoyed the room & pool. There is a modern
BBQ down by the pool area, grocery store is a short drive front hotel.
Really nothing in the residential immediate area, walking path close by.
Easy to find, pleasant front desk staff.

Fantastic staff! Great price! ....
Lovely clean and fully equipped apartment. Staff was friendly and helpful, they couldn't help you enough and were always smiling and chatty. Far enough away from the CBD to be quiet, but close enough that the CBD is a short walk. Free Wifi and Foxtel and a great pool area :)
