Beautiful Oasis if you can aff....
We stayed in Samadhi which was an amazing villa and we would highly recommend if you are wanting to treat yourselves. From the bedroom upstairs you could look out to the ocean and there was a private balcony with a beautiful egg bath. Downstairs was a small lounge area inside but a huge lounge outside (undercover) as well as day bed, private hot tub, BBQ and loads more. We loved swimming in the ocean just outside the front door and using the steam room and sauna on colder days. The whole place is a little oasis and walking through the timber grounds felt like we were in tropical paradise. They had a little gift for us as well as we were on our honeymoon which was a really lovely touch. Location wise it was spectacular with the beautiful Belongil Beach out the front door with a couple of cool restaurants 5min walk away (Treehouse was our fave). Otherwise it was an $8 Uber into Byron Bay town or a 20min walk along the beach - perfect.
It is fairly secluded but not 100% private as the other villas use the same beach access and had some loud kids at one of families which was killing our buzz on the day bed a little. Also for the cost I felt like there should have been daily room turn down, otherwise it's twice a week which can be a little long when there is sand and stuff involved.

I have read some of the bad reviews that have been posted about this place and it astounds me that’s people can be negative, as I have only great things to say about my stay here. The place is paradise, set in the rainforest, as soon as you walk through the doors you feel relaxed and it just gets better. The facilities are excellent, great selection of kitchen equipment, use of the bbq and the spa. The beach is outside and it is simply paradise.
The units are comfortable, the beds are comfy, there are plenty of fresh towels and you can get more if needed. Everything is really well thought out and simply a great place to stay. Will be back for sure!

My husband booked 3 nights here as a surprise for me before I started my new job. It was the perfect way to unwind and relax. A beautiful setting and only steps from the beach. Our dogs loved it and I think were disappointed we had to come home.
Close enough from the energy of Byron but far enough to be secluded. This was perfect bliss.

Opulence on the beach
From the moment you stand in front of the thick heavy doors at the entrance to Shambhala you know your in for a treat. Open the doors and you are greeted with serenity, the pebbled entrance culminates in a very large amethyst crystal formation. Then you detect the soft music playing and the sent of incense in the air. Take a breath and move into a what feels like a tropical oasis. There is a raised boardwalk through ythe middle of the property with the RETREATS on either side of you as you walk up the boardwalk. We stayed in the 1 bedroom (2 people only) retreat caled Samadhi, this retreat has it's own facilities, you are able to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner even a rast dinner if you wish as tgere is a full size oven.
There is an outdoor area that feels like home, a lazy louge, outdoor dinning table, personal BBQ and to top it off your personal hot tub with ocean views. The bedroom is located upstairs and has a large balcony off the bedroom. The balcony has a stone bathtub with running hot and cold water for a lazy soak after a hard day of relaxing in and around the room and beach.
Words don't fully describe the experience, opulence is as close as I can get. Shambhala was an experience that I believe is second to none.
Give yourself and loved ones an experince like no other.
Thank you Shambhala for a unique experience.

Mid week - weekend stay
Hotel comes across as a really nice place to stay in, though it didn't feel that clean and the appliances were a bit out dated and warn for the price. Our TV from what I could see was the smallest in the 'retreat' and didn't add to the uniformity of the resort. We as well didn't have the advertised Netflix on the down stairs Tv which isn't a necessary, but would have been nice as it was raining for two days.
Another down fall of the hotel was that there was no room keeping service, limited towels and soap per room. I ended up having to use a towel a few times over, eventually asking a staff member I saw on site for soaps and a towel. The staff were unaware of the location and took a while to bring it to me. Another let down of the private spa facility was the limited hours 8am - 9pm, which I do understand, but for a private spa I felt we should have been able to use it Any time we decided (being a retreat). I fee like Byron bay has better hotels to stay in, if you are after an upper class hotel with attentive staff. Overall the hotels location and surroundings are really beautiful, the beach front access makes it extremely convenient to access and a nice place to sit at night. A nice touch was the bottle of sparking wine left for us at the beginning of our stay, I would recommend the hotel on its grounds, location and it's secluded feel.
