Housekeeping needs a shakeup

We stayed here for 5 nights and while overall the hotel is nice housekeeping was a complete letdown. The reception area and hallways seem to have been recently refurbished. The gymnasium is well equipped with a long glass wall overlooking a spacious pool and covered jacuzzi area. Although the apartments are dated they are functional and of a good size. There is also a good sized balcony overlooking the botanical gardens but sadly the windows/doors are not double glazed and so the road noise from below is disturbing during the night and early morning. Housekeeping however was the biggest letdown. We checked out the minimalisticly equipped kitchen on arrival and discovered that a cereal bowl was broken and no sharp knife of any size was available. The fridge had a broken shelf which collapsed if you opened the door too fast. During our stay neither teabags nor bathroom amenities were replaced - the original soap supplied on arrival had worn down to a sliver and some replacement teabags were not forthcoming after a request was made. The shower had no water seal on the door and so the floor outside was always pooling with water.

Very pleasant stay over Christ....

The apartment suites are a little tired in terms of their decor and general quality, but were exceedingly clean and comfortable. While, in general, I might give the property a 4/5 rating because of this, I'm giving it 5/5 because of the staff, especially as we stayed there for four days over Christmas. To a person, they were friendly, kind, attentive and efficient. The breakfast (included in the rate) each day was probably minimal service but was plenty to eat. The gym and pool deck are lovely spaces.

Spacious with great views.

We have previously stayed at The Sebel Quay West & always enjoyed our stays . The hotel has basically only 15 apartments left as the rest of the building was sold off privately. This time we were running a conference at the hotel & stayed for a week in a 2 bedroom apartment. I’m a space addict so having a generous size apartment ticked all my boxes. However the apartment does need a major remodel to bring it up to a 5* standard but it’s still very comfortable. Staff - all were friendly & efficient. Overall - fabulous location directly located across the road from the Brisbane River & Botanical Gardens. It’s approximately a 10 minutes walk into town.

Boutique hotel near the botani....

Staying here for a short business trip. Hotel has a very boutique feel to it with older architecture and lots of lovely art in the lobby. The hotel does ha e a nice outdoor pool deck and a small gym. The location is close to everything in Brisbane CBD and only a few minutes from eagle street pier.

The world’s rudest concierge

This outdated hotel has some of the rudest staff we’ve ever encountered. Lazy, unhelpful & rude. From the front desk to the management we were shocked on several occasions by the lack of basic politeness. (The only exception to this was Gary. Bless him!) The staff clearly are not trained properly & do not know the building or it’s facilities well or if they do would rather not tell you about it. It seems to be nearly all men who work on the front desk too which seemed very odd. A friendly female face would have gone a long way. One day we stood & waited for service for about 10 minutes while 2 staff gossiped. I would say the issues at this hotel come from the top down - you don’t get attitudes like that unless they do. The rooms are fine, the location is ok but with all the choices there are I would avoid this one with a 10 foot pole. Find somewhere where the staff are happy to look after you.
