Great place to stay!
Great view, it is at walking distance to downtown and (if you're fit) to Glaciar Martial.
The place is great, good structure and the staff is very kind. This was our second time on the Hotel and for sure there will be more.

We arrived at a difficult time. It was in the middle of a tragedy for the family. The room was prepared and given the circumstances we were welcomed and looked after exceptionally well by people who, despite being numbed by shock were doing their very best to keep the show on the road. The hot water seemed to be fixed and the construction across the road was not intrusive and occurred (intermittently) during normal working hours. The place is not perfect but given the expensiveness of Ushuaia provides solid value.
Under normal circumstances the owners provide tourists with a lot of useful and helpful advice and provide a warm, friendly welcome. The place is very safe.

warm water is cold
Woke up with the noise from the construction site across the street. Shower was cold. Old TV (CRT tube type). Zone was a little too far away and not good looking. For what it is worth, I prefer other hotels like Hostal del Bosque, MUCH nicer, good breakfast, excellent maintenance.

Location: far away from town. not good. not very nice place
Water: your showers will be very short. Water is to cold. This happnes every day
Service: owner is not to polite to say the least, i suppose mainly because of his wife which should NOT be in the service business
Price/performance: It costs double its value...
Avoid. You will be better off elsewhere.

Super friendly people
We had a wonderful experience with Arwen Mesheken in 2011 thanks to the family who run it. They go out of their way to assist guests in everything, from carrying your suitcases upstairs to fixing your airport transfer for your leave. The apartment was really nice, with a sitting room and kitchen in the lower floor and a bedroom in the second floor. The kitchen is equipped with basic stuff but if you need extra items they will happily supply it. There is cleaning service included and every morning you can find in your kitchen the supplies to prepare your breakfast (bread+toaster, milk, coffee+coffee maker, muffins, butter, jam, juice, etc). Room is very comfortable according to temperature and noise as well since it is located in a very quiet area and street. Although the area is not centric, it is located at a paved street, which is a lot to say, considering that in winter, some streets are closed to transit due to pavement/snow problems. There are some shops to buy food and essentials just 2 blocks from the place.
The only negative aspect of the place is location. While the neighborhood is tranquil, it is located more than 15 minutes walk to the centre (getting back to hotel might take a lot more since the way is mostly up hill). Ushuaia is a small city and most important shops and restaurants are located in the main road, so if you plan dining out or shopping for example, you might consider this aspect. Otherwise, if you fancy walking or you hire tour companies to take you to the excursions or the ski resort, there is no problem since most of the times you will be picked up from hotel and on your way back you can ask the driver to be left in the centre to do whatever you need to there, and take a cab back to hotel (I don’t remember cab fare but it is a 5 min ride). If you are driving I believe it is much better option rather than staying at the centre.
One last comment I would like to make, is that I had 2 problems during these holidays and Arwen Mesheken family helped me a lot! Firs, my son got ill and they showed really concerned and helpful at that moment. Second, when I was about to leave we found out there were problems at the airport and my flight was delayed more than 10 hours. Although there was no possibility to use the apartment because other guests had already arrived, the lady who runs the hotel kept my luggage, permitted the use of toilet and offered lots of cups of coffee and her kind company till the situation was finally solved.
Finally, it is also great value for the money we paid.
