Charming, lovely place
My family and I spent a week in the Cabanas Aldea Nevada. It is a perfect place for those who enjoy nature. In the middle of a forest, the cabanas are clean, well equipped, well heated. The service includes cleaning and breakfast supplies, and the staff is helpful and efficient.

Quaint, Lovely Little Cabin in....
We adored our stay at Aldea Nevada! This is the third place we've stayed in Ushuaia. To those people who think it is expensive, that is because lodging tends to be very pricey here -- especially for anything with more than one double bed. So, yes, you'll pay more for even a decent place. Even 10 years ago we spent $200-300 for a room with two beds to accommodate our family.
The cabanas are quite small, but were certainly roomy enough for my family of four (two adults, two teens). There would not be enough privacy for two couples, so spring for two cabanas!
Each cabana is separate, which makes for a quiet stay. Parking is right at the door, which has an overhang for the elements. Walk in, and the two daybeds constitute the living room. Ahead under the stairs is a giant potbelly stove which provides ample heat (gas, so no need to make a fire!) to the entire cabin. THIS IS HOT!!!!! For our family it was not a problem (although I melted my zipper by having my fleece draped on the railing by it), but this would have been terrible if we had a smaller child or toddler in tow. To the left of the front door is a cute, nicely constructed wooden table with bench seats under the window. Yes, it is small and may require that you move so that someone can get in. No big deal for us.
The kitchen was well furnished, enough that we cooked all breakfasts (they brought basic continental breakfast supplies every day) and one simple soup/salad/bread dinner, but it truly is tiny. Also on this first floor are the nice bathroom (yes, a small shower, so it may be difficult for some) and a walk in closet (which was great for my teens to stow their gear so that I didn't have to nag them to keep it neat)!
Upstairs is the master bedroom, which is comparatively huge since it spans the entire cabin. There is a walk in closet here, too. The stovepipe from downstairs runs through this by the stairs. It is definitely NOT in the way, but if you forget and touch it somehow as you're using the stores you can get burned. Certainly not a problem for older kids or adults, but again this is a hazard for young ones. Unfortunately there is just one small pop-open window upstairs. The heat rises considerably, so that it was roasting up there at night. They need to add more ventilation somehow. But, that is my only complaint of the stay and it is not a deal-killer. Coming from Chicago and still having cool weather in Ushuaia, it was nice to feel like summer!
The grounds are smaller than they appear online. They are nice (and safe) to walk around, though not extensive and there are no trails (not sure where I had this idea). Our cabana was on the far side of the property (south-facing) so we had wonderful private views of the channel without having to see rooftops of other cabanas. This would not be the case if one was staying on the north side.

Quite lodge in beautiful fores....
We stayed 4 nights at Aldea Nevada on our dec 16 trip to Ushuaia. It was way above my expectations, I would give more stars if I could.
First the cottages are situated in a beautiful forest on the mountain slope that leads up to Martial Glacier, the setting is almost fairy tale like. You can walk around the property of the hotel and get to a meadow where there are wide flowers and birds. Very cozy cottage with everything we need and more; we stayed at the 2 bedroom cottages; the living room has stove and oven, microwave and all kitchen appliances we need to make easy breakfast/brunch. The stuff was very helpful, giving us information on tours and transportations as well as the surrounding area.
The room had great heating systems, and the room was kept at very comfortable temperatures throughout our stay.
It is a little way out of town center, but it cost about 80 pesos or so to get remis or taxi to town (either call, or catch one of the taxis returning from martial glacier, we never had to wait more than 5 min).
Definitely a gem of a place, highly recommend for families.

The internet just didn't work!
The attendant and the ouners didn't worry with the hosts!
The calefactor is by gas, very old equipament, we had a loud noise all nights long...
To finish, we were accused to steal the room's towel.
Our Experience was terrível!!!!!!!

Cute on the outside...
My husband and I were so smitten with the exteriors of these adorable little cabanas nestled in the manicured forest, that we booked and paid in full BEFORE we saw the interior. Our mistake! Based on the price, we just assumed the same quaint, up-to-date aesthetics of the outside would continue to the inside. We were very disappointed. The lighting was very poor - we could neither read nor write in the living area. The bathroom was unbelievably small, not to mention the shower stall - impossible! And the bedroom was tiny, barely wide enough for the double bed. The real deal killer for us was the heating. We were never able to get our cabana warm, which made the nights and mornings (the only times we were there) very uncomfortable. After 2 nights, we found other cabana accommodations that were much, much better (spacious, climate controlled, super clean, a fraction of the cost). We were not able to get a refund for the additional 5 nights that we had prepaid, but we just couldn't stay there and be unhappy. We were there in March (Fall Season). In the summer months, heat may not be a problem. The architecture of these cabanas is just too incredible for them to fall so short on the inside. And, maybe all the other cabanas have been updated to modern standards. I hope so.
