Volveria siempre.

Perfect cabin in wonderful lit....
We stayed for two nights in a very nice and clean cabin with two floors and a little kitchen. For us it was a perfect place to rest and from which we could explore the nearby scenery. There was a queen-sized bed and also two single beds. Breakfast was served in the cabin and was good. The staff was very nice and we could somehow communicate with our little Spanish. The price was very reasonable for what we got.

We were suppose to stay four nights at La Posadita but left after the first night because it was too cold. We found a Ala del Alma, near the town center that had the following amenities that La Posadita did not have:
1. Heat that actually heated the room to a comfortable temperature
2. Satellite TV
5. In room tea service
6. Plates, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware (so you could self-cater)
7. Hair dryer
8. Dining table in the room
9. Daily maid service
And their administration staff speaks a little English, whereas La Posadita doesn't. And it was only ten pesos more. No brainier!
The only negative was that the maid service was very unreliable. The first day they showed up at 2:00 (perfect), the second at 6:00 pm, the third not at all. Since we are not used to maid service, it was not a big deal. But when they promise it daily and you don't get it, you feel a little slighted.

High quality accommodation in ....
We stayed in Alas del Alma in December and had a great time. They advertise themselves as cabanas, but in fact it is small B&B right in the middle of the village of Tilcara. There are the positive cabanas features - you have a small cuisinette (fridge, kettle and microwave, no stove), private outside siting area and common garden with BBQ but not any of the negative ones. There is only 5 rooms in total and it's really quiet.
The rooms are spacious, split on 2 levels, the bathroom was also quite large and modern. Only natural construction material and local style were used, so it's all stone, brick, wood and even cardones wood. The lamps made out of branches were little bit over the top but the rest is nice and works very well with the region's climate - the interior was cool during the day and warm in the evenings. Breakfast is served on local pottery and also local fabrics are used for decoration. Prices vary according to seasons, but for us it was a extremely good deal since we got a room for 4 for the price of a double.
There is an adventure agency right opposite (Altitud Norte) if you feel like special excursions, but we just did a lot of things ourselves - a hike to Garganta del Diablo, driving around and discovering Quebrada de Humahuaca and of course there is plenty to do in Tilcara.
