Convenient and well-priced
We didn't arrive at the hostel until 4am (we emailed to apologise while we were on the bus!) but there was someone to let us in and he was very polite considering the time of night! The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, apart from the tiny pillows (not uncommon in South America!) The hostel has a nice, friendly feel and the staff were very smiley, despite our bad Spanish. The location is convenient for the bus stop and centre of town, but the road noise was quite loud at night in our room (we were upstairs, the downstairs rooms were further from the road). The price was good considering how expensive most Salta hotels are.

Friendly staff, too much traff....
We stayed here because of the proximity to the bus station and an early morning bus we had. Nice things are the friendly staff, the great breakfast (much more than the regular Argentina bread/butter/jam) and the clean rooms. We did not like the fact that is almost on the autopista (highway), meaning loads of traffic noise at night. Therefore, we did not have a good night sleep. Furthermore the showers are tiny. The reservation on booking.com included an obligatory bank wire transfer, which I have never seen before and which is very uncommon basically anywhere in the world. It states the hostal will contact you, which they didn't. For us it was OK to pay upon arrival, however we've seen (and helped) other people who were overbooked. They call it a hostal, but remember that this one has no guest kitchen. You can get hot water if you like. You might get charged a little bit for that.
If you don't like traffic noise or showering with your legs and shoulder against a shower curtain, then don't stay here. If you like nice hosts and don't mind sleeping just a little at night, then you should consider staying for a night.

Would stay here again!
17 of us stayed here on a school trip from the UK with teenage boys... it is a charming family run hotel (more than a hostel in the traditional sense) where the owners did everything to make us feel welcome and cared for. We had a couple of boys who suffered from travel sickness and the hostel kindly washed their clothes for a minimal price. They helped us order in pizza one night when we were all too tired to venture out and set up the dining area for us. The place is conveniently close to the coach terminal, so that we could walk there easily with luggage and is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of town. Apparently the rooms at the front of the hostel were a little noisy from the road so maybe take earplugs, but the ones at the back were just fine. The aircon worked really well thankfully! Surrounding local 'tiendas' or shops, were helpful and well stocked for snacks and supplies. There is nothing fancy or luxurious about the place but it is absolutely perfect as an economic, friendly base from which to explore Salta and the surrounding area.

Nice place, wrong location
The hotel is a nice place, clean, authentic style and friendly personnel. One quy speaks English and even German. Our room was spacious and we even got a big balcony. Which was nice.
Major downside for us was the location: next to a 4 lane road with lots of traffic. Argentinian windows aren't there for blocking noise. So it felt like camping next to the high way. I think rooms In the back are better for this reason.
The location is a short walk from the bus terminal, a bigger 15/20 minute walk to the city and a too long walk to area with bars and peña's. Taxi's fortunately aren't expensive. Still I advice a more central location.
We staid in Salta around 20 juli, it's mad how much hotels the city has and how much was booked!!
