Would be great for families on....
If you're looking for a frills resort type - this is not it. The staff is amazing, but it doesn't make the hotel a 4-star. Some might even question a 3-star rating. Very clean. The kitchen setup was super (full-size fridge!). Location (1/2 block from the beach) is awesome. But don't expect to relax on a couch or have the maid touch the dishes.

We stayed for three nights in the middle of January during peak season. As River played Boca that weekend (these are possibly the two most popular football teams in Argentina) the town was booked out which stopped us from moving to another hotel which was what we immediately wanted to do after we saw our room. It was really filthy. Hair (and not ours) everywhere including bed and bathroom. The carpet was simply disgusting. The hotel has four elevators which could not cope with the number of guests. We waited several times for more than five minutes for an elevator before taking the stairs and walking the eight floors (luckily we stayed on a lower floor), which is where we encountered many other guests with the same problem.
On a positive note breakfast was good and the staff was friendly as well. However, I will not go back to this hotel.

We had the pleasure to stay at this hotel on August 2008. Even though the apartments were a little outdated, the staff went beyond their way to made us fell like home.
mM wife and I still wonder how 3 youngsters not even in their 30's could accomodate every little request with a big, warm smile immediately, showing that they love what they do, not it's just another job answering spoiled tourists.
We definitely will come back to this hotel, if it is only for their staff.
If you want ultimate luxury, maybe you have other options in Mar del Plata.
If you want to feel like home, Bristol is your choice.

Room with a View
Great sea views from the balconies. The breakfast room and the breakfast itself was special. Good location near the casino.
Downside...no air conditioning and it is hot even with sea breezes. Carpet and furnishings show their age.
