We stayed there in February (only putting up a review now though..) and it is one of the worst hotels we stayed in while in Argentina! The hotel is located quite outside of town by the lake. If Im honest, there is nothing happening in this area, it is boring, you'll see someone walking a dog if you are lucky, even the beautiful lake does not make it exciting. You will need a car to go to town as it is too far to walk. The whole area looks very unfinished and quite depressing....the hotel itself, there is no proper driveway and you actually wonder if this is it or if it is still being built or renovated? The hotel is quite big and reminded us of a hospital with the long clinical white corridors, no rugs or anything on the floors so you can imagine the noise when people walk pass your room rolling their suitcases. The room was quite comfortable though considering the whole place is so bad...very large, again no carpet or rug or anything. But clean and comfy. I think all the rooms overlook the lake, but the area is so depressing that we didnt want to stay in there too long. We did go to their restaurant on the first evening.....the place is huge, no atmosphere; 3 tables were occupied, 2 of 2 people, 1 of one person....About 5 members of staff working. We waited, and waited and waited.....the food finally arrived, let me tell you that nothing was fresh not even the butternut soup! even the wine was just average... Breakfast was in a different area and was just bad.... Pity i cannot even tell you the staff was nice as they could not care less! before we checked in we went to their bathrooms at Reception, the receptionist tracked me down (the girl with the short fringe, she looks like she is just out of an horror movie) to ask me if I was resident in order to use their toilet facilities! she definitely set the tone! I would not recommend this place! a piece of advice to our friends travelers: go closer to town! plenty of hotels!! if only we had known that at the time!

Not worth the price

The place is well constructed and the views are fine. it would make a great hotel under a different management. But the service is bad, the heating is either unexistent or, when you insiste a 100 times to get it going, will cook you alive. Internet is terrible. The personnel is not helpful. The views are fine, but is rather isolated and a bit of a barren area. For that price you can find much better.

Comfortable hotel

Las Dunas is relatively new, has great views and is very clean. It is not in the center of town, so you’ll need a car or cabs to get around. We had a rental car and it was fine. Parking in town was not that difficult. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, but nothing fancy. A good travel hotel for a family wanting to be comfortable, but staying within budget. The breakfast service is good, but arrive on the early side as they tend not to restock items in the last hour.

I believe most of the rooms have a view, and an extremely beautiful one of Lago Argentino and the mountains.Rooms are very spacious and comfortable, wifi worked very well, breakfast was good. There is a free shuttle to downtown in the pm,but we walked several times and is not too far.The laguna nearby is a beautiful sight.Front desk lady helpful in making reservations and advice for tours.

Room for improvement!

This place has a nice view, but that's about the best thing I can say about it. The staff truly ignores you. We made the mistake of having lunch at hotel on New Years Day. There was one other table occupied. No one came to give us menus or take our order. My mother-in-law had to call downstairs to the front desk to have them get us a server. One morning, I got scolded for taking some cereal from the breakfast buffet for my toddler, as he didn't eat much while we were there and I thought it would be good for later. Breakfast was mayhem, we had to seek out silverware and mugs, as tables were not prepared and food was out and not replaced. One evening we decided to have dinner at the restaurant. Our steaks were extremely overcooked. We brought our own wine and they almost didn't let us drink it because we had already opened it, even though we told them we were happy to pay corkage fee. The doorknob broke off of our bathroom door. The curtain rod used to pull curtains closed fell off. This place needs some repairs and some staff training.
