Great Base for Palermo
We stayed at The Clubhouse, which is a members club in Palermo Soho after their sister club in Rio recommended them to us for our stay in Buenos Aires.
What a great recommendation. We stayed mid week (Tues-Fri) and found the neighbourhood thriving, with loads of great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Weekend guests should be warned that the neighbourhood is "lively" so if you're looking for a quiet bolt hole over the weekend, may not be for you!
The staff were really helpful - Sebastian prepared a list of the best things and places to go in the neighbourhood and also arranged a cycling tour of the city for us (from a central meeting point)
We took a cab from the airport to The Clubhouse and were a little concerned when the cab driver announced that we had arrived and I couldn't see any sign of it (there is a small plaque on the wall that says The Clubhouse) but don't forget that this is a members club and not your normal hotel.
Our room "Upstairs" was great - we had our own terrace and large bathroom and large comfortable bed. The room was large and airy and I would recommend it to anyone. The lift was broken whilst we were there which meant we had to carry our bags up the stairs which could have been an issue if we were not able bodied.
Because we were there mid week it was quiet but there were a few members around on the Wednesday and Thursday night in particular, so there was great atmosphere in the bar and lounge area those nights. Great bar and great bar man (who knocked up the best pisco sours I've had!) Alejandra was really helpful as well when I had problems with my credit card!!
All in all, a great stay at a great clubhouse with a great location.

Beautiful room but not a bouti....
My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Clubhouse and we both have mixed feelings about the place.
The Clubhouse is located in Palermo which is a really lovely area, full of great restaurants, bars and shops. There is loads to see and do within walking distance from the hotel and the other areas are all easily accessed using taxis.
We stayed in the Master Suite, which is very large, with a separate dressing room and a huge bathroom. The room is beautiful and has its own terrace overlooking the pool and garden.
The staff at the Clubhouse without exception we found to be very kind, friendly and willing to help and helped us check in early after a long flight from London which we really appreciated.
So in those regards we have no complaints whatsoever, it really is lovely.
The not so good:
The Clubhouse describes itself as a private members club with rooms. On booking it was described as a boutique hotel, this we found it not to be. The reason I say this is that in my opinion a boutique hotel is somewhere that you go to relax, feel pampered and sleep well. The problem we had was sleep was almost impossible during our stay.
The first night, we were kept awake until the bar next door stopped playing music at 4am. I appreciate this is not in the Clubhouse's control. The second night we returned to find a 4 piece rock band playing directly under our bedroom. They stopped at 1am and then music played until 4am and the noise finally abated at 4:30am when guests left.
Our final night a DJ was playing music again until 4am and noise from guests to 4:30am. We had read reviews from other guests who had a room on the ground floor complaining about the noise. However we found our room had no noise insulation and the band and DJ might have well been playing in our room.
Each morning whilst having breakfast, staff asked us "Did you manage to get any sleep at all" which indicates to me that they know the noise level is too much for a hotel. It seemed to us that the priority of the Clubhouse was not the guests staying there and trying to get sleep, but more of being a party/music venue.
It is a shame because as I have said the place is lovely, it just seems to me that The Clubhouse doesn't know what it wants to be, music venue or boutique hotel. It can either be a music venue or boutique hotel, but it cannot be both.

Wonderful pool area with bar and lovely food. Best hangout daytime and afternoon in palermo. Feels private because it's small. The suites are next door. Would live in the main building next time. Also think the main rooms are cooler.

Fantastic, but different, kind....
Ok, this is a different type of stay as the Clubhouse is more of a club than a hotel. Think of a place that during the day people come and go and have quiet little meetings inside the venue or around the pool. Then after they leave, the place becomes yours. The Clubhouse has only 2 rooms for accommodation, so when people leave, it's really just your space for the night. Staff are on deck till 12am then it's just you. The first night we felt a bit at odds with this different type of stay, because at all other hotels you have 24/hr staff in attendance. But once we adjusted, we allowed this to become a more intimate type of stay. We were thinking that next time, we would come with another couple, because if you knew the people upstairs, it would be so cool to just have the whole 3 floors to yourselves.
We looked at previous reviews around how the place can get noisey and chose nights (Mon-Weds) which are far more quiet. Monday, the Clubhouse is actually closed to all patrons. Last night, Weds nigh, we noticed that the Buddha Bar cranked up it's music till 12am which was fun and fine, but if you if you are noise sensitive I wouldn't recommend booking a room from Thurs - Sunday.
Barbara and Sebastian and Juan were all so super helpful and nice in recommending places to eat and shop. They speak great English, which is great as my Spanish is 'mucho poco'. And this area is the best for food/shopping. Kind of like a New York meets Melbourne vibe here.
We stayed in the Master. Such a great room. My gosh, the bathroom is a big as an apartment.. great double shower. Can't recommend this place enough just for a different type of stay.

We had a wonderful stay here. Barbara and Sebastian were incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough to help us. Both The Upstairs and Master rooms were excellent, very spacious and both with their own terrace. If you can opt for The Master but both are fab. Breakfast is simple but yummy and the pool area is so beautiful. Location is ideal, right by all the bars and restaurants - would recommend Osaka and Don Julio. Our mid week stay was very quiet but on the Friday night there was a lively party of approx 100 guests - we joined and had great fun so if you're up for a weekend party you're in luck - overall it's a very peaceful place though. Thank you for having us! Hattie and Sam xxx
