Central location but Disappoin....
We were rather taken aback when we were dropped off at the hotel which had no frontage just a small sign and a doorbell to reception. The hotel is tired and needs a lot of work. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. Our room facing the street was above the pool bar which operated until 5.30 am so not much sleep was had as the music was exceptionally loud!! The breakfast was just toast, tea or coffee. There is no lift and a lot of stairs! The wifi worked well in the small lounge room.

Central location, friendly sta....
Very helpfull, english speaking and friendly staff. They helped us to book Uruguay trip and Tango show.
Breakfast was OK for what you expect in soth america.
Room was spacious with TV, air con, safe, Wifi and hot water, but without a window.
Investment in new towels would be a good idea.

small and cozy
centrally located, small and cozy hotel, built in within historical house. however, if you are elder traveler, please note that they don't have a lift within the hotel and you need to go up by stairs.
personnel is friendly and attentive. some rooms are spacious, but some could be smaller in size. if you like to have quiet rooms, ask for the one away from the street view, while sound from 9 Julio street is loud, but you have a great views! I also would like to turn your attention, that it is historical building and floors are covered with tiles. they could look a little bit dirty, but they are not. i use to walk in socks or bare feet and foot was clean.
only as breakfast - it is very basic, toasts and croasant with some jam, coffee or tea and juice. if you would like to have more, than there is supermarket on another side of the street, where you can buy joghurts or fruits.
and before to store something at the minisafe, try to figure out how it is working
generally, it is great value for money hotel!

Old Venetian Palace Style Feel....
The hotel has no frontage, just a massive steel door, a dirty red awning above it, a small logo to one side on the grubby wall, and a door bell/speaker. On one side of the doorway is a pool bar that is open 24 hours a day and attracts some doubtful types. When through the Fort Knox door one is confronted by 30 or so stairs clad in worn red carpet. The reception guy was down quickly to take my large case and that set the tone for the service despite the fact I speak no Spanish and of the three staff only one had any fluency. It became a friendly challenge to find ways to converse.
When inside the presentation is that of an old, just surviving Venetian palace with not pristine paint and chandeliers. There are only 8 rooms and the atmosphere was like a small club. My room was big with a king size bed with good mattress and a good sized shower and bathroom. It was Heath Robinson furniture with an empty fridge. There was a working safe. The wall air conditioning unit worked which was just as well as it got to 40C on one of the days I was there. The wifi worked too.
Its location is central with a couple of good restaurants only round the corner. It was cheap compared to other places I looked into. It grew on me thanks to the staff and the old cosy club feel generated. It's not for luxury seekers as to make it bijou would cost a fortune. It's for budget travellers.

Friendly, but incapable
Central location, spacious rooms, friendly receptionists: This hotel could be a lovely place. But it nothing works well here. The Internet is on-off all of the time and as predictable as the Argentinian government. Once even the door bell did not work so I had to wait in front of the hotel for some time. When I arrived, they gave me a room that smelled like an ashtray although I had asked for a non smoking room. They were incapable to give me another room for that night so I had to sleep in it. The manager did not even say sorry.
Officially, this is (officially) a non smoking hotel, but people are smoking on the floors all of the time, and even in the rooms, obviously. The room safe code is always the same one because the safe is so rotten that you obviously cannot change it any more (at least, the receptionist was unable to do so). I asked for the hotel bill on the first day, and they promised to give it to me "immediately". The same happened on the second day and on the third day, and I am still waiting for the bill. Hope at least their wake-up service works, otherwise I might miss my plane tomorrow.
There are lots of nice hotels in Buenos Aires. Why should you take this particular one?
