You get what you pay for.
We booked this hostel in a fit of desperation, as it was the only available hostel nearby that wasn't fully booked. And now I know why...
On the plus side, it's very cheap, so you do get what you pay for: a simple breakfast, clean(ish) rooms and no atmosphere whatsoever.
I shared a 'mixed' dorm with my (male) friend and 4 other long-term (male) residents. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but I got a weird vibe from them, right from the start. This eventually lead to an unfortunate incident (whilst I was alone), after which I couldn't bring myself to stay there any longer.
Ironically, as we were leaving, one of the staff members was surprised that I was put in a male dorm[!?] and offered me a female dorm, due to the mix-up. At that point however, it was too little, too late.
I could almost forgive the hostel for putting me in the wrong dorm, as they can't control the type of people that stay there. The fact that it was a pretty crap hostel anyway, was just the tip of the iceberg...Avoid at all costs.

We booked our stay through Agoda, we received a confirmation email saying we will pay in Arg Pesos the day of arrival with a small note saying VAT of 21% will be added on top (VAT was not mentioned until after booking). When we arrived at Hostel we were informed we had to pay in US$ which we did not have, if we paid in pesos they would charge 1600 instead of the quoted 1102. This is a US$100 difference we could not offord. We walked down the road and stayed at another hostel which was upfront about VAT and took payment in US or Pesos. They also informed us it is actually forbidden to operate in this manner.

Economical And Great Location
I dont know whats up with the horrendous reviews but this spot was pretty chill. The staff were incredilbly friendly and helpful and the spot clean. The wifi was fast and the breakfast was better than most hostels ive been too in South America and ive been traveling in this continet for 8 months now. The price also was just right and plus the location was increbily convenient. I would stay here again when in BA. Peace!

Worst hostel I've ever been to
I arrived at midnight in Buenos Aires with no where to say. All the hotels were booked up. Eventually some seedy guy brought me to this hostel (I was certain he was going to rob me). He turned out to be a nice guy but the hostel was absolutely terrible.
It looks like a dump (nothing like the pics on the website), the rooms look dirty, the people it attracts are not good, and to top it all off I got my bank cards and money stolen. When I did, the hostel staff were completely unhelpful. People aren't friends in this dirty, dark, dump of a hostel. Avoid at all costs.

We used booking.com to book this hostel in a last minute effort to find somewhere to stay. Once we got to the hostel we were told that the price had changed. There was a blackboard behind the reception clearly stating the room tariffs yet the owner/receptionist tried charging us extra. The room had mould on the roof, the breakfast was just cake, the Wi-Fi didn’t work in the bedrooms and the atmosphere of the hostel was pretty grim. This has been one of the worst places I've stayed in and I would not recommend. The ONLY good thing about this hostel was the location. We since found another hostel literally a block away and it was 100 times better
