I would say that this is a good budget hotel with excellent location.
The staff in here is really helpful and friendly with good English skills. The location makes it easy for you to explore the city and find places to drink and eat nearby.
The room was old and fairly basic but it really didn't disturb me in any way. I would only complain about the amount of noise in this place as the insulation is awful like in most of the places in Argentina.
We had a great couple of days in this hotel.

Really a mediocre experience. Economical, yes, but not enough to justify the stained, stiff towels (when we had them), mildewed shower, humidity ridden paint every corner, broken lamp, broken and stopped up wash bowl and shower (GROSS) that accumulated water ankle high, roach motels in the stall.... rusty shampoo amd soap holder (GID FORBID YOUR SOAP FALL INTO THE WATER!!!!).
The beds were made very sloppily, had to REMAKE them everyday after first two nights of scrambling bed clothes constantly off the floor, both of us.
Hot water came out of both faucets, no glass, and breakfast was really BASIC. If I'm on a long weekend shopping spree I need the eggs and bacon option... to survive the kilometric walks. Ended up going out to b'fast everyday.
Everyone was very helpful and sweet though, and once upon a time the hotel had a Trip Advisor distinction (2011), but it would appear that they never renewed a towel since, or painted a room for that matter. Really a shame because the location is fantastic and they are decorated with good taste, for a low budget; and I insist, the people who work there really are very nice and helpful.
It would appear to be a little left to its own fate, unfortunately. So promising. A shame. I hope they catch on, most of the problem is superficial. The intentions are vert good. MAINTENANCE URGENTLY.

Do not book
The room was horrendous, paint peeling, no hot water, moguls in the corners of the room. We stayed for 7hrs (between flights) and it was 7hrs too long. A leaking roof in the hallway and noise from reception (no sound proofing as doors had no seal) meant a very sleepless 7hrs to which we should have just slept in the airport!

We stayed here for the last few nights of a three week holiday in Argentina. Palermo is a great area to stay in with a wide choice of restaurants, bars and shops but sadly, we were extremely disappointed with our room. We had booked an executive king early and asked for a special room as we were celebrating two special occasions. The Retro room we were given fell well short of what we had been hoping for. Everything felt very tired and worn and there was no outside window at all. Sadly, there was no alternative room available. The staff were really helpful but the room took the shine off the last few days of our stay in Argentina.

Do not stay here if you actual....
The hotel is extremely noisy - both from the acoustics (lots of echoes and old doors) so you can hear everything but it is also impossible to actually sleep here due to the rubbish windows which let in all the traffic noise and people partying until 6/7am. I had to be up at 7 for a flight so I wasn't able to sleep at all. The receptionist just said that it's a a noisy neighbourhood despite not accepting my point that the walls and widows are paper thin.
Also this hotel is in no way "boutique" - it is a pretty shabby upscale backpackers hostel at best. The breakfast was extremely depressing and poor value.
There are far nicer places (including hostels!) to stay in BA / Palermo. This place is terrible value and you will be exhausted the next day as you simply cannot sleep through the noise here.
