Warm and welcoming!

This is a wonderful place to stay. Gabriela & Douglas are warm and welcoming and are two of the nicest people we have ever met in all our travels. The cottages are spacious, comfortable and clean and have everything you need. We recommend having car to explore the Island and to purchase a few groceries. The nearby beach is beautiful. This is a great place to relax and unwind.

Personalized Service in Paradi....

First and foremost is Gabriela & Douglas are amazing hosts who offer the personalized service I've seen in a lifetime of travel. Upon arrival they both meet you, handle your baggage, provide a beverage and give a very nice review about the cottage and property. Douglas took us to the grocery story after and on a nice car tour around St Johns. The next morning, he spent a full hour covering the map and providing world class recommendations. This review really helped us with navigation and determining what we wanted to see and where we wanted to eat. He also has an amazing knowledge about history. If you visit Betty's Hope, you will see his name listed in the museum. Gabriela also helped us book several excursions and the boat actually came to the beach which is just a 10 minute walk. The resort is ideal if you are the type that wants to get away from people and the hubbub of the big resorts. The cottages are well equipped and very clean and safe. We really enjoyed hiking up to Fort Barrington which is only a 20 minutes walk (5 minute) drive from the cottages. Great place to watch the sunset and seeing the cruise ships depart from the harbor. There are other properties that are very nice on the island however I doubt any will come close to the personalized service offered by Gabriela & Douglas.

Great place.....lots to see.

The cottages are spacious and well appointed. The mattress firm and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need and the quality of the pots and pans are restaurant grade as well as decent knives . Great spot to use as a base to explore the beautiful island of Antigua. Sharon, our housekeeper was very helpful and she was such a delight to talk too. Our hosts Douglas and Gabriel greeted us quite warmly, and they were fantastic hosts as well very knowledgeable about what to see on the island . This resort caters to an older crowd...this is not a party place. This place is great to recharge and relax.

What you see is what you get!!

There is no exaggeration on these reviews. Yepton is everything they say it is and perhaps more. A couple of things. Location: this is a little "out of way" compared to other places but that is actually NOT an issue. It is only 15 minutes into the heart of St. John where you can experience shopping, crazy cruise ship tourists and good restaurants (C&C Wine Bar for example). You are also on the North West side of the Island which in my opinion has access to the best beaches. The West side of the island has Ffryes and Turner beaches which are Caribbean Postcard beaches. You need to rent a car - but unless you are staying at all-inclusive - you would have to do any way. Driving in Antigua is a totally different topic worthy of a separate post on Forums - suffice it to say you need to have your wits about you and be patient - but it is totally fine as long as you are smart! Let Gabriela arrange the car. They will bring it to you and pick it up at no extra charge and they are a very honest rental car company. The property around Yepton is beautiful. Very tranquil with extremely well maintained gardens and cleverly planted trees and shrubs that allow for privacy from the other five cottages, yet do not impede any view of the lagoon and ocean beyond. There is indeed a beach within a 6 minute walk but you are on the Atlantic side and if it's windy it is not great. It's so much worth the drive to other beaches though. Yepton is very quiet at night and 100% safe. The property itself as described is very well kept and the cottages are equipped with everything you need to be self sufficient for as long as you are there. Plenty of appliances, dishes, comfortable furniture, TV, WiFi, hot water for showering - you name it. They are spotlessly clean and if anything is not working or right you just need to TELL Doug! (Our stove wouldn't lite the first night because the pilot light had gone out - Doug fixed it in 2 minutes!) Owners: What can one say about Doug and Gabriela that hasn't already been said?! They treat you more like family than a "hotel guest". From the moment you arrive and help you with your luggage to the moment you leave. Doug greeted us as poor Gabriela was quite ill when we arrived. He got us settled and took us to Epicurean - the local grocery store - to load up on supplies for a week. (TIP: bring along a box or two of cereal, coffee, tea - things you can pack easily enough in the US. Groceries are very expensive!!) The next morning Doug spent a good hour going over the map with us and pointing out the best places to go. He has lived there for 38 years and knows the island like the back of his hand. If you have ANY questions just ask him. He gave us a GPS to use and a local cell phone which really came in handy for making reservations (make sure you eat at Papa Zouks at least once!!!). Doug and Gabriela will also book tours for you with no extra mark ups and tell you what is legit and what to watch out for. They truly have nothing but your best interest at heart and want you to enjoy this beautiful island. You can't beat having breakfast on the porch and being greeted by the beautiful Zenaida Dove's, local Bullfinches and the King bird who catches crackers out of the air! The salt pond is also home to the endangered West Indian Whistling Duck (we were lucky to see 4). We absolutely loved Antigua and didn't have ONE bad experience with anything at all! It is a gorgeous place with beautiful albeit a bit reticent island people who as long as you respect them and don't act "touristy" - want you to enjoy their lovely country. I would choose Yepton over ANY all-inclusive any day and highly recommend it. We plan to return again!!
