And here we go again :0)

6th visit,6th consecutive year,we love the Verandah. I have reviewed the Verandah every visit as I feel it is important to tell people of why we return and what has gotten better and or worse over the 6 years we have been visiting. Room - we always request a room which can accomodate our needs the best which usually includes a single roll away bed for one of our sons to sleep on. we noticed this year we noticed the built in wardrobe which used to partially separate the main sleeping area from the sofa bed had been removed so the room was more open and airy (a new wardrobe has been built in by the sliding doors). The rooms decor remains the same, simple and usable. We are a family of 4 so the size of the room is perfect for us. Communal areas- very clean, the pool was cleaned daily and there was always a pool guy collecting towels, empty plates, cups and rubbish. No need to get up at silly o clock to get a spot by the pool, always space. The main bar always serving great drinks and the coffee shop is a great addition, although sometimes you had to find someone to make your coffee, but the service is good and my husband says the coffees are great. Adult pool- We often had this to ourselves, again nice and clean, bar for drinks and bathrooms available. Beach- Great to see bathrooms now situated on the beach itself and a small bar serving soft drinks. Great range of non motorised watersports available and the water hammocks are great to lounge in! The rasta beach is nice for a bit more quiet, food and drink readliy available, Vera and Caris are simply divine! Food- Good food, themed evenings in buffet, we ate at all restuarants and never had a rubbish meal, wine was quaffable. The managers cocktail evening/pool bbq is fab and the food is amazing, very, very tasty indeed! Staff- One of the reasons we return every year, we have never encountered a bad member of staff, all very hardworking, friendly chatty people. I will say that manners and politeness go a long way,and treat people how you would like to be treated. There are some that always stand out and when we return we are treated as and called family by some, some have become some of our dearest friends. I am going to mention a few because they work so hard to keep the guests happy- Neil, Vonetta,Lorenzo,Sandra,Jahineilie,Quame,Mario,Ariel,Phyliss,Josetta,Iran,Shawn and Jason. But thank you to everyone, you are all amazing! Entertainment- Always check the blackboard at the main bar for a list of activities, you can do as little or as much as you want,we partook in some trivia at lunchtime and a rum tasting session (lethal!!!) some activities are dependant on persons showing up and often won't take place if there isn't enough of you. The evening entertainment was quite laidback,we always enjoy the steel pan band Sticks and Fingers on a Tuesday evening, we also have a soft spot for Mr Wonderful the singer- he may not be the greatest singer but he is very entertaining to listen too!! Kids club- Our youngest (8) used this to unwind if he'd had too much sun, he took part in some of the activities but usually went in the evening for movie time to unwind. The ladies are all lovely and enjoy having the kids around. So I know people will be interested- yes there is building work going on adjacent to the Verandah,it is going to be a new resort. We were not disturbed by the work going on and even when we were on the main beach we paid hardly any attention to it, it certainly did not impede on our enjoyment and fun of our holiday. So that's it,another year, another amazing holiday,we look forward to '7th heaven!' when we return!

Idyllic setting

We stayed at Verandah resort to celebrate my big birthday. We were not disappointed. The layout of the resort is beautiful - all small cosy villas, winding avenues and lots of plants and trees which gave it a very private feel. But what made the resort so special were the staff who were amazing. They really couldn’t do enough to help you. The food was wonderful too. I would definitely recommend it. The location of the resort is on the east side of Antigua and it is some distance from the main attractions on the island so it’s ideal if you want a relaxing away from it all holiday.

Stunning!

This is a beautiful small resort on Antigua. Very friendly staff throughout, especially if you take the time to ask how they are and engage in conversation. Golf buggies will take you where you want to go but we choose to walk as it’s not far to get to any part of the resort. The food was lovely and varied. Didn’t go to Nicolas as it was an extra £40 pp and that seemed a bit much. If you have any special food requests or issues you only have to ask at guest services. They have a separate vegetarian menu and gluten free menu and baby facilities. Maria makes the best omelettes in the morning!! The 2 beaches on the resort are lovely and clean. I would recommend getting a waterfront bungalow as the view is so worth it. The rooms are large with kitchenette (well equipped), lounge Area and then bedroom, all open plan. The balcony is more of a large verandah, biggest I’ve ever hand at a resort. The activities throughout the day are great, aqua aerobics was a proper workout. Kieffer the action man is great. We took the pink panther tour around the island and learnt the history of Antigua. It’s an all women tour and they are fab. We also did The Excellence circumnavigation boat tour and that was also a great day out. Beautiful boat and great hosts. A trip to St Johns is also worth it. Just to see the hussel and bussel of Antiguan life. And some shopping if you want that. Not much else to do on the island apart from relax and enjoy!
