Amazing trip!

The service is very good, I did not encounter any problems during my stay. Staff was very friendly towards us! I had booked a standard room and got a pool terrace view. It was so nice and very clean. It was very convienient and close to everything. Not a lot of walking. Except it is a walk up a hill to get to the Outhouse for lunch but worth it the food is amazing. The Pineapple Grill restaurant was very good as well. Location was beautiful, some amazing views from up the hill, especially at sunset. Beach was. great but get there early if you want chairs under an umbrella. The weather was beautiful, caught rain once and didn't last more than 15 minutes. Also rained near supper time twice but for 5 minutes. Overall this resort is great, I have nothing to complain about. It's beautiful and it won't be my last time here!

Pineapple Beach Club needs a l....

Hubbie and I just returned from a week at this adults only resort. I always like an honest and fairly detailed review so that I can make a good informed decision on my next vacation, so here goes... First, the drive from the airport took about 40 minutes. The ride was a little rough so if you get a little car sick, sit in the front. When arriving you are taken to the "Guest Services" building and you get yummy rum punch and wait your turn to check in. It didn't take long. I felt the staff could've been friendlier but they weren't rude either. We had an Ocean View room. Just be aware, we were in the 800's and we counted the steps from our level to the main area where the restaurant is, it was 63 steps. If you have any physical impairments that makes it difficult to climb stairs, stay away from these buildings and ask for a ground floor room somewhere else. These sit on the side of the hill so the only way up is the stairs, or a golf cart, but they are not available 24/7. The steps were fine for us, but I could see where someone else might really struggle. However, the Ocean View room was clean, large and the bed comfortable. It has a private balcony. The balcony had 2 basic chairs and a small table. It would have been nice to have something more comfortable on the balcony. But the view was spectacular and we could see the entire beach and resort. We were very disappointed in how the resort grounds looked as you go into the rooms for the Ocean View. The side of the hill is unkempt and old leaves are everywhere. Everything was brown and you could tell it had not been maintained. A little TLC by the Ocean View Rooms would also up the rating. The resort is the only one in a little cove, but, there is a public beach that butts up to the resort. Security is there to make sure only resort guests are at the resort and it didn't affect us in any way. The were always plenty of beach and pool lounge chairs and quite a bit of shade to be found. We never had to go out early to "save" a good spot. While we were there, there was a weird, massive seaweed invasion. We woke up one morning and it was covering the beach. The resort had a backhoe there and extra manpower to get rid of it. It took a few days but we were still able to go into the water, although seaweed ridden. It was a little annoying towards the end of our week because they had put some of the seaweed in piles and left it there. It should have been removed. But overall, they did a decent job of getting rid of most of it. For drinks, the main bar is the Mongoose. We were pleasantly surprised that all the liquor was top shelf. They had Jack, GreyGoose, Crown, Maker's Mark, etc. The drinks were excellent and they weren't stingy. We found Borris and Franklyn to be particularly cheery and helpful. The bartenders were always willing to make whatever you asked for. We found the food in the Topaz, which is where we ate most of our meals, to be average. This was all buffet style and sometimes they ran out of things and it took awhile for them to replenish the dishes. Each night was a different theme. Service tended to be a little on the slow side when it came to filling water glasses, coffee, etc. You can ask them to get you a drink at the bar, but one night I asked and the server rolled her eyes at me. My husband wanted something but after that, said forget it. You're probably better off getting your drink at the bar and then taking it to dinner with you. We also ate at the Outhouse, which is a barbeque place at the top of the hill. If you have trouble walking, ask for a golf cart ride. We thought the chicken was really good, ribs were tough. The place is all outside and is covered with placards that guests have made from wood they give you. We asked for some wood to write something to mark our visit, but they said they were out. We used a marker and just wrote on a rafter. The best place we ate at was the Pineapple Grill. You have to make reservations, but it is well worth it. The food was excellent and the service was really good. We kinda felt like if the service and food was more like this in the rest of the resort it would be a 4 star. There is also the Pelican Snack Bar by the pool. It reminded me of a community pool snack bar but everything there was good for snack bar food; burgers, fries, sweet potato fries, hot dogs, pizza, nachos etc. If you are a "joiner' there is always something to do throughout the day, trivia, horseshoes, pool aerobics. Saturday night there was a fabulous band and the singer was really good. We didn't see her again during the week so figuring maybe just Saturday's? For $20 a person the resort will arrange a shopping trip into Antigua. This is a taxi van you share with others. It really is only for about 2 hours as it picked us up at 9 AM and we didn't get into town until about 9:45. Then we got picked up at noon. However, it's a good deal. If you want to stay in town longer, which we felt we could've used a little more time, you can hire a private taxi. We also did the Sting Ray excursion. It was $50 a person. You got picked up right at the beach at the resort in a boat and taken for about a 8-10 minute boat ride to 2 docks in the ocean. There were about 6 guides and maybe 10 of us with them. This was the one of the best things we have ever done. The stingrays come right to you and they even help you hold them and you can feed them. Keith was especially helpful and you could tell he really cared about these animals. It was well worth our money and we would do this one again. The nice thing about this resort was that it was very small and you got to know people. We didn't feel like the staff was overly friendly but they were cordial. Some of the resort is showing a little wear. Water was dripping on my husband during breakfast and then another day it was dripping in the buffet line on another guest. Not a lot, but not fun to get dripped on either. Also, one afternoon we decided we needed to nap. Around 3:30 someone started banging on our door. They didn't let up. I finally got up and groggily went to answer the door. The housekeeper was standing there and asked if we were asleep, I said "well, we were." She said sorry and left. There was no door placard for us in the room that said "Do No Disturb" but there way the lock works, if you lock it from the inside it can't be opened from the outside. We would possibly consider this resort, but a little more work would make it more attractive. Hope this helps you all.

Best holiday I've ever had - t....

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed an incredible week at the Pineapple Beach Club 15-22nd May. I couldn't fault one part of our week at this amazing hotel. The staff are trained impeccably with service standards second to none in my opinion. Excellent standard of food. The accommodation is modern and comfortable with the best air con which was definitely needed! Branded drinks at the bar which is always a plus! The entertainment that is plaid on throughout the day and evening is great. The beach was absolutely beautiful with clear waters and non-motorised watersports like kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing included at no extra cost. The highlight of our trip was definitely swimming with the stingrays. We were approached by Garth one day on the beach and he booked us our Stingray City excursion easy, just paid him our deposit then the rest was paid at the end of the trip. No hassle and super trustworthy. Not only did Garth book our stingray trip he also took us to Shirley Heights personally AND to St Johns for some shopping. He is really great and if you bump into him we couldn't recommend him enough for his services. Overall, my favourite holiday I've ever had and I was even looking at booking for later in the year sat on the balcony while we were there if that tells you anything!!
