Wonderful views!

We recently brought about 45 people here for our wedding. The hotel is appropriately priced and is a solid 3*, but the views are much better. With 5 beaches and different room types there is something for everyone. There is some updating occurring but all rooms were very clean. Our wedding was offsite and handled by a private coordinator, but Adrienne and team did a wonderful job on our large welcome dinner and helping the guests throughout the week. A bit more food variety at the lunch meal would help but what was available was good. The only rude person we dealt with was George, one of the taxi drivers. He almost made a large group of people miss their flight due to his archaic rules. He doesn't work for the resort, just came when we requested a taxi. I recommend avoiding him.

don't do your wedding here! av....

there are so many things to say...I'll try to summarize: when I book a 3* hotel, this is exactly what I'm expecting, nothing less or more, not 2* or 1.5 in this case, not continuous "under refurbishment" or terrible service. I'm sorry that I didn't check the reviews here earlier -this place is "under improvement" for a few years now -anything will ever change? I seriously doubt it! Back to the point -very dated rooms, tired showers, imagine a hostel with your own bathroom, clearly not 3*! No entertainment whatsoever, think convent silence! no music, no nothing! The most shocking thing: the service is terrible! I honestly never been to a place with so many rude and unprofessional people in one place! Special mention to bar/ cocktail staff -no clue how to make a decent cocktail, rude, rude, learn to smile at least! Food -inedible -same overbaked bacon and sauces for 7 days in a row! same! they never change it! Special mention to Dave -"wedding coordinator"?? -the most confused and unprofessional person we came across here. To be fair, most of the people that work there have no clue what hospitality and professionalism means and should seriously think to get other type of jobs! we had a nightmare wedding -and we paid a lot for it, first 3 days, they didn't have any clue how to organise it, last 3 they seemed to put something together: a mismatch of everything: plastic flowers on the arch, different flowers on bouquet, different boutonniere. The cake looked nice but impossible to eat -not baked in the middle, we gave it to staff to feed the birds! Probably was made on the premises -as all their puddings were impossible to eat! All culminated with the photographer recommended by them who scammed us of 265 us dollars and gave us rubbish photos -stains on our face, wrong angles "recommended by the hotel". To be fair we got an apology from the GM and a 40 dollars (approx £20) trip to St John's discounted! 40 dollars! for ruining our wedding, stressing us to the max on our holiday and taking our money! what else? -everything served in plastic glasses, staff casualy walking around doing nothing on the morning of our wedding we walked around the resort and tidy up all the beach chairs, and collect the towels( it was one left on a chair since we got there, 4 days ago) a chain was hanging on the private dining area were we cut the cake -my husband fixed it, we didn't want it in the pictures! Simply put, they ruined our holiday and wedding, don't let them do the same thing to yours!!

Fantastic location

We have been visiting Hawksbill on and off since 1995. We often meet friends that we have met before. The location is amazing. If you like a busy hotel this is not the place. We came home a week ago and are still enthralled by the location. The setting is 5star. Improvements have recently been made and we understand from management that this is ongoing. There used to be far more dancing and continued until about 11pm including staff members. This was lacking this year. The partial waiter service for 3 nights a week and beautifully presented meals is no more. Had the food been better this would be less important. The beach restaurant used to have an a-la-carte menu which we understand will be coming back. The staff are extremely pleasant and friendly. The WiFi is really poor but we understand this is going to be upgraded and installed in the guest rooms. The rooms are still in the middle of a refurbishment and we have no doubt that they will all get done eventually. The company has installed tv in some rooms that is not up to much and repositioning the mirror to accommodate the tv was not the best of ideas. Despite faults with this very Carribean establishment we still love it. Yes we will indeed be returning. This is a totally relaxing switch off holiday.

Paradise but with an issue

Just returned from yet another excellent trip to paradise. Yet again the staff were polite and supportive in ensuring you had an excellent time. Sean and his team ensured that we were well fed with a good variety of food to meet all tastes. Christabel and her team ensured we were well lubricated with drink. Housekeeping cleaned the rooms to a good standard. Maintenance responded quickly and effectively to a problem in the bathroom. To all the waiting staff you all did a more than an excellent job, thankyou. Yes the facilities are a little bit tired but if you want 5 star facilities in a 3 star hotel it isn't going to happen. So to other negative reviewers don't expect them and pay another £2000 for your holiday to get 5 star facilities. But ill guarantee one thing you wont find a location like Hawksbill. However and it is a big HOWEVER senior management were badly lacking in their duties as far as I was concerned. Yes there is a weekly meeting with the management team but it would be nice to be recognised and not totally ignored by them as they pass through the grounds. The only time recognition did happen was when they were showing somebody (obviously important) around and they were all smiles and hellos to the guests as they quickly walked through obviously trying to impress the visitor. This not only incensed me but several other guests also. Remember it is wise to be courteous to guests if you wish them to return. Being civil with hello, good morning etc, followed by questions like Are you having a nice time, Is there anything we could do better should be asked. This was the norm over the past years we have visited this hotel and after all it makes you feel welcome and wanted. In addition although I did not speak to any member of staff on this matter there seemed to be a lack of communication between management and staff also. Apart from this weak area (which hopefully will be rectified) we will returne to this hotel in what must be the best loction on the island

Nightmare holiday!

On arrival, found chewed mosquito tablets and droppings in drawers. Three days later noticed one of the mosquito window units had been chewed at the bottem letting mosquittos in (photo attached). The units themselves were not sealed properly around the edges and half of the louvre windows couldn't be closed. We were informed the management had sacked the contractor who undertook the “fogging” for the resort and had not replaced them with anyone else. This resulted in many people being bitten unnecessarily including ourselves. On day two, we wanted to come home as we were bitten so badly. Have given a two star rating because of the conditions and the low maintenance of the resort. However, the staff were very polite and courteous but were clearly over-worked.
